Happy Times!

So it's time for a little joy in my life!  I've talked about my friend of 40 years {Miss Joy} before and showed y'all her fabulous beach cottage, remember?  Well, Joy's son Sean just graduated, with highest honors, from Georgia Tech.  Joy drove up to Atlanta from Savannah to be with him last weekend on his special day.  After some well-deserved celebrating with his friends back in Savannah and then spending some time with his Daddy waaaay over in Finland, Sean will be moving to Charlotte, North Carolina to start his job as a Quantitative Financial Analyst.  Lord have mercy, Joy and I had to google that...and we still don't know what it is!

My friend Joy with her son Sean...

Anyway, I love my friend Joy...we were roommates for a short while as young girls back in Augusta, we worked on cruise ships together for many years, Joy was a Bridesmaid in my wedding, and we both have something HUGE in common...we are SHOPAHOLICS!  I'm looking forward to visiting with Joy later this month at her new beach place on Tybee Island, just outside Savannah.

Miss Janice and Miss Joy

More JOY!!!  I recently attended the confirmation of my friend Lane's little girls...Melanie and Leslie.  They looked like little princesses on their special day!  God's blessings to both of these girls as they begin the spiritual journey in their lives!

Miss Leslie and Miss Melanie

My friend Lane is into baking cakes now...and she created this special beauty for the girls at the fabulous dinner which followed the service.  The top layer is strawberry and the bottom layer is red velvet!  The cake was iced with fondant and I was, of course, very impressed with Lane's cake flower making skills!

I gave the girls sterling monogrammed earrings from The Pink Monogram...something they can keep forever!

"Here's What I Wore" to the Confirmation...The shift is the 'Tutti Fruitti' pattern by Lilly and the aqua cardi is also by Lilly...love the bright pattern!
My Accessories...The wristlet is by Tory Burch and Revas by Tory Burch.

Charm bracelet, Chanel hair barrette, aqua iPhone cover, monogram necklace, earrings, & ring, 'Eternity' wedding band by Cartier, and 'Love' bracelet (gift from husband 25 years ago).

Thank you for visiting with me today and have a fabulous week y'all!

SUPER BOWL SUNDAY!

Blah Blah, right?! My team didn't make it this year and neither did my runner-up favorite team. Superbowl XLVI...To me, just two Yankee teams from up North competing for the championship! I'm not a fan of the New England Patriots or the New York Giants. But, I'll be checking out some of the commercials and looking for shots of the beautiful wives of the quarterbacks!

Team Brady: New England Quarterback and his gorgeous supermodel wife, Giselle. I'll be watching to see what she's wearing, for sure! Team Manning: New York Giants Quarterback Eli Manning and his wife Abby. I think I've mentioned on this blog before that I LOVE those Manning boys and Eli's soooo cute and his wife is a beautiful Southern girl. So, I must cheer for the Southern boy!!!

TEAM MANNING!

Of course, I'll be curious to see Madonna's halftime performance. I'm hoping she'll sing some of her old-school hits...
~"Holiday"
~"Into the Groove"
~"Material Girl"
~"Like a Virgin""
What songs are you hoping she sings or do you even care?

Everyone knows Superbowl Sunday is not a good time to try to cut back on party food...but, that's what I'm trying to do. Boo hiss. My contribution to a Superbowl spread today will be a bit boring...fresh veggies, low fat cheese, some pita crackers, and pepperoni rounds.

The snacks may be boring football food, but this container will make my contribution special. BFF Teresa Jane gave me this darling snack carrier for Christmas. I love it y'all! Southerners love to participate in "covered dish" events, and this snack carrier is sure to be a hit at social gatherings in the future.
I mixed up my Taste of Gourmet "Simply Spinach Dip" package {adding a low-fat mayo & no fat sour cream} and added chopped artichokes. You can order the dip mix from me HERE.

Have a fabulous Sunday and enjoy the game today! Stop by tomorrow morning...I'm having a giveaway!!!

French Cuffs and Cuff Links for Ladies?

I found this darling dark gray jumper at Target and thought it was so cute and the price was right. I decided to wear it with a white blouse with french cuffs and use my vintage {aka very old} monogrammed cufflinks.

Dress: Target
Blouse: Land's End
Tights: J Crew
Shoes: Bandolino Mary Janes
The Accessories:
Cufflinks: Gold disks with maiden-name monogram {Totally appropriate}
Earrings and Ring: Gold disks, again with maiden-name monogram
*I must have purchased the earrings, the ring, and the cufflinks around the same time since they all match!
Wedding Band: 'Eternity' by Cartier
Lipstick: 'Talisman' by Chanel
Cologne: Burberry
iPhone cover: Black with white monogram
Shoes: Mary Janes by Bandolino
Headband: Burberry
Watch: 'Oyster Perpetual' by Rolex
Pocketbook: Burberry
You can see in this close-up photo that all the monogrammed jewelry matches...I've always been matchy-match!
Are cufflinks appropriate for ladies? Absolutely! Cufflinks should be worn with blouses with double cuffs {French cuffs}. I think they add a little personality to an outfit and they are so fun! I also think they help to make an otherwise drab outfit look more feminine.

Cufflinks would also add a special touch to a blouse worn with a skirt or pantsuit in a business setting.

Here's another close-up of my monogrammed cufflink.
These white knot cufflinks were included with the blouse and I can use them when I'm in monogram overload! The silver monogrammed cufflinks below these are next ON MY LIST!

Thank you for stopping in today to visit with me. Remember, you can still use your items monogrammed with your maiden monogram, even if you are married and using your husband's surname.

Marley Lilly Scarves

Just in time for the Fall season, Marley Lilly has the cutest monogrammed pashmina scarves!

Look at all the colors...again, I'm loving that houndstooth pattern, and the purple one, and the brown one, and the red one.
The camel and zebra print are both catching my eye also!!!
And monogrammed, to make them extra special and preppy!

So, you can be sure when you wear one of these precious scarves, people are gonna ask you "Where did you get that?" When you receive your order, these darling little pink & green cards are enclosed to hand out to those who "Need to know."

You can go HERE to see the chart on some basic pashmina folds...

I wore the orange scarf {monogrammed in lime green} today folded in the #1 Loop-n-Through Fold...with a black long sleeve tee, J Crew jeans, and orange Revas.

5-Minute Face, Bad Ponytail Day...

AND a Golden Girls outfit! Today I broke one of my own rules, "If you can be ready to leave the house in less than 30 minutes, you probably shouldn't be leaving the house at all!" Mama is always telling me "Go put on some rouge and lipstick!" Well today I was just not in the mood to look chic. So, I put on my 5-minute face, dealt with my bad ponytail day by putting on a cute cap and black & white gingham ribbon, and wore my loose-fitting Golden Girls outfit. Lord have mercy y'all, it was so hot today, I liketa died in this outfit. What was I thinking?

Since we are planning on doing some painting soon, I ran in the paint store, Walgreen's, stopped in at Lowe's for some plants, and had a Fish Taco at Tin Fish. I sure hope that nobody I know saw me. I looked like I was about to melt!!!
To keep from looking totally sloppy, I jazzed up the lazy outfit with some cute accessories. A Bad Hair Day cap and the gingham ribbon helped to hide the frizzy ponytail! I wore my black and white gingham, monogrammed flip flops, a silver monogrammed choker and earrings, my roll ring wedding band by Cartier, and my 'Chameleon' watch by Rolex. My lipstick was 'Star Red' by Chanel and my pedicure was 'Love That Red' by Revlon. I wore my Chanel sunglasses, my iPhone cover was black with a white monogram decal, and my fragrance of choice for the day was Burberry.

Bad Hair Day...Lord that's an understatement, with all the heat and humidity!

My pocketbook...a black and white toile monogrammed tote.

Ready for the daily rain shower with my black and white gingham umbrella! {Cannot stop the matchy-matchy thing!}

Thank you for stopping in to visit. I hope y'all are having a great weekend.

Dreamsicle Slush...Perfect for this time of year!

Modeling another addition to my Prissy Apron Collection, I served Dreamsicle Slushes to my out-of town company this weekend from a simple white wooden serving tray. I added Orange Crush soda to vanilla ice cream...it's a perfect treat beverage on a hot summer afternoon!

Of course my beverage napkins are orange and I found the cute orange and white polka dot sippin' straws at World Market.

The blue and white and white polka dot apron is from the Home & Garden Gifts Store in Mt. Dora, Florida...had it monogrammed--in orange! This thing is cute enough to wear in public y'all!!!
It's been a little hectic around here this weekend...with my friend from out-of-town taking my computer apart and fixin' it...stuff scattered all over the office floor! Lord have mercy, can't take stuff thrown about like that! If you have sent me an e-mail, please be patient...my program was on the blink and I'm finally able to answer my mail.

Miss Coco had a good visit with the Vet on Saturday and finally "Got her hair did!" ...so, she's happy!

Thanks for stopping by tonight. I hope y'all have a great week!

A Staple to the Preppy Wardrobe...Bermuda Bags

The Bermuda Bag, one of the most favorite accessories of 70's, is a staple to the preppy wardrobe. It's a round or oval-shaped pocketbook with a wooden handle and a removable cloth cover. What a relatively inexpensive way to have a pocketbook to match every outfit! I'm always on the lookout on the Re-Lilly site or Ebay for these bags. Here's my collection...

Solid and cute Lilly print covers...

Adding your monogram makes them extra cute and real Southern!

A few of mine are reversible. After they are monogrammed, obviously you cannot use the reverse side:)

One of my blog readers recently asked me about my Bermuda Bags. She was curious about 'What's inside my Bermuda Bag'. Well, I never leave home without my Chanel lipstick and there's no way I could live on a deserted island, 'cuz I'd just die without my Burt's Bees Pomegranate Lip Balm...so the lip balm is never left behind either! My iPhone is pretty much attached to my hand {so, I'm either holding it or it's in the bag} and just recently I had to start wearing readers, so the Lilly 'Beachy' readers are a must-have as well. I always carry a sample size of Lilly 'Wink' cologne and Hall's mints--which are another addiction of mine:) My Cartier writing pen is a must and of course I don't leave home without my debit card and ID card in a Gucci card case. My keys to the BMW are on my Lilly 'shift' keychain.

You really don't want to put large items {like a big folding wallet} inside, 'cuz you don't want these bags to be bulging with stuff!

This is a photo that is also on my sidebar...it's me in Bermuda in the early 80's...dressed VERY preppy and carrying a pink Bermuda Bag, probably just like the one in the photo above...and monogrammed of course!

Thank you for visiting with me today! I'm very nervous about the American Idol Results Show tonight. Lauren Alaina did a fabulous job last, but ...I still hope Scotty wins!!!

Weekend in Lilly

This morning I visited yet another church...I kinda liked this one and it's close to home--think I'm gonna visit again. I enjoyed the Pastor's message and...it did not hurt me one bit that he addressed the congregration as "Y'all" during his sermon!

After church, I stopped in at my usual Sunday Brunch spot...Panera Bread.

"HERE'S WHAT I WORE." I LOVE this shift by Lilly in the 'Havannah a Good Time" pattern.
Pink and green cuteness...yes it is!

The pink monogram takes the cuteness up another notch! Thanks to Monica at The Pink Monogram for the monogram job!

ADORE the pattern and the scalloped edge at the hemline!

I wore a pink cardigan by Lilly and accessorized with a white Bermuda Bag, white Revas, pearl necklace & earrings & bracelet, Cartier rollring wedding band, 'Parfait' by Chanel lipstick, 'Wink' by Lilly cologne, and 'Lovie Dovie' by Essie pedicure {oops, y'all can't see that because I wore my closed-toed church shoes}, and a white monogrammed iPhone cover. My ponytail was adorned with a light pink grosgrain ribbon and I wore my Lilly 'Beachy' readers, just so I could read the church bulletin:)

Friday, I went to the movies to see "Bridesmaids." Absolutely *LOVED* this movie. It was hilarious!!! *LOVED* all of the girls in the wedding party!

"HERE'S WHAT I WORE." Friday was a hot day...so early in May! After working in the garden all morning, I wanted to wear something cool. This skort by Lilly in the 'Worth Avenue' pattern was perfect! I paired it with a simple white tee...Large Diet Coke and Small buttered popcorn in hand, I sat down to enjoy the movie...*LOVED* it y'all!

Cute little skort...perfect for the hot days in Florida!

Love the 'Worth Avenue' pattern and I love the color also!

I carried the coordinating blue Bermuda Bag by Lilly, monogrammed of course! I wore my white Jack Rogers, rollring wedding band by Cartier, gold choker with my monogrammed charm & the matching monogrammed earrings. My nail polish...'Lovie Dovie' by Essie, lipstick was 'Laser Pink' by Chanel, my ponytail was adorned with a matching blue grosgrain ribbon, and my fragrance for the day was 'Wink' by Lilly. My iPhone cover was white w/pink monogram and I wore my Chanel sunglasses!

Yesterday, I cleaned the cottage out back ALL afternoon. Ugh! Now, I will tackle the main house:) I'm looking forward to American Idol Finale Week!!! Of course, I'm happy that my favorite Scotty McCreery has made it this far and hope that he wins. I'm also happy that his competitor is Lauren Alaina...also a Southerner. I love them both and wish them the best.
