Teresa Jane

Teresa Jane Printup Putnam
July 31,1952 - April 26, 2012
Yesterday my BFF Teresa Jane died...after ten years of battling lung disease, Teresa Jane passed away peacefully in her own bed...at home.  My heart is broken into a million pieces.  40 years of friendship...This girl was the best friend anyone could have ever wished for.  We met while working at J.B. White's {now Dillard's} at the National Hills Shopping Center in Augusta, Georgia.  I was working in the Gift Wrap department and Miss Teresa was in Cosmetics.  While gossiping during a break {probably about some snooty girl}, we became  fast friends from Day 1.  Through the years, Teresa proved to be a loyal and trust-worthy friend, even during some of the lowest moments of my life.  She remained loyal to me even when I made terrible choices...she always had my back!!!

After I started my blog, Teresa would tease me and say "Oh your blog readers think you wear those prissy outfits everyday...Let me put some photos from my scrapbook of you on your blog...so your readers can see how you really dress!"  Whenever I would visit her, we would wear our stretchy pants for days on end...

In her memory, I'm proud to show y'all how we really dressed when I went to Georgia...stretchy pants!!!

Miss Janice and Teresa Jane...wearing our stretchy pants...at Teresa' s home in Augusta.

This is one of my favorites photos of young Miss Teresa Jane {on the left} with her beloved sistah Barbara {on the right}  Barbara loved her so much!

Teresa Jane's home in Evans, Georgia.   Even though she was very ill, she loved to shop online and decorate her home.  Y'all may remember in the past I have featured her guest bath with the black and white Hollywood movie star photos and also her gorgeous kitchen redo.  We were talking about a new valance for her kitchen window just this past weekend, even though she hadn't even been able to walk into her kitchen for a long time, but she still wanted it to be pretty.  She wanted black buffalo checks with roosters to coordinate with her MacKenzie-Childs accessories!

The men in Teresa Jane's life.  Her sweet boy Stoney and the love of her life, her husband J.D.  Bless J.D.'s heart, he so lovingly cared for her until the end!  My heart breaks for them both.

Teresa Jane's son Stoney will be married to Miss Sarah on Sunday, May 27, 2012.
Yesterday, on the day of her death, I received this precious card in the mail from Teresa Jane...

Even near the end of her life and barely able to hold the pen,  my friend  was thinking of me...thanking me for the flowers I sent her while she was in the hospital recently.
With tears streaming down my face, I truly thank the Lord for my friendship with Teresa.  May she gaze upon the Lord face to face, and taste the blessedness of perfect rest.  May angels surround her and saints welcome her in peace.  Goodbye my friend...

I'm Taking a Sick Break!

Normally I don't discuss my health issues on the blog, but, boo hiss... I have gone and gotten sick and have "taken to my bed!" I ended up in the Emergency Room a couple of days ago with a minor issue and now need some rest. And...Just when I was getting ready to reveal some of my cute Spring "Outfits of the Day"...now, I'm laid up in bed wearing Lilly PJs.Right by my bed...on the floor is our 16-year old Jack Russell. Bless her heart, she can't comfort me, she's got her own medical issues!
However, my beloved Mlle Coco Chanel is cuddled right by my side {she enjoys the net with me} and wanted y'all to know that her Mama is okay 'cuz her Daddy's taking care of her!
The tv is on 24/7 and Puff Kitty is in charge of the remote. She is an old school lover of Lifetime Movie Network and has no problem keeping it on that station for her Mama.Hopefully, I'll be back to blogging real soon. I have a cute little giveaway lined up from Lifeguard Press.

Happy Easter

The church is always decorated beautifully for Easter Sunday!
Hallelujah! He is Risen!!!
After spending way too much time hunting online and in the malls for an Easter frock, I finally decided to hunt down one in my own closet. Immediately, I spied this little green and white number that I purchased about 4-5 years ago at Coldwater Creek. With the ivory shrug, it was perfect...nothing fancy, just a bit Spring-y! Pearl necklace, earrings, and bracelet and of course, pink Revas!
I won't be serving my traditional Easter Sunday dinner today. Since it's Master's Sunday also, I'm cooking for about ten guys, who will be watching the tournament with my husband. We have a cottage detached from our our home..."The Romper Room"...perfect for them to party and act like houligans!

The two-story building is "The Romper Room at the Roost"
I was so excited that Fred Couples was the co-leader going into Saturday's round and wanted him to win another Green Jacket, but it appears now that it won't happen for him this year. Boo hiss...he's so cute! {grown girl eye candy} I was disgusted with Tiger Woods' language and behavior {kicking his club} on Friday afternoon. He's sooooo tacky! It seems that Tiger needs a bit more anger management rehab. In the words of golfer and CBS analyst Nick Faldo, "I think we can safely say Tiger has lost his game...and his mind."

So...after feeding the fellas, I'll relax and watch the tournament in peace and quiet. I gave up chocolate for Lent, so you can bet I'll be into some of these truffles!
Cheering for Phil Mickelson today. Hope he does well and takes home another Green Jacket!
I'll also be thinking and praying for my bff, who is very ill. This is a photo of her taken many years ago at the Masters with her favorite golfer Ben Crenshaw. Today, I'm sure the Masters is on the TV in the room where she is in Augusta. Thank you so much to all y'all who are praying for Teresa Jane.

Spring Brunch

Since I'll be preparing Masters food next Sunday instead of a traditional Easter Sunday dinner, I decided to have a small brunch on Palm Sunday. I wore this classic Lilly palm shift to church with a pink cardi and pink Revas...
After church, I came home and changed into my khakis and put on this precious Spring apron...the newest addition to my "Prissy Apron Collection." Aimee Broussard made this apron for me and of course it matches my yellow gingham theme going on in my kitchen right now.

Isn't it just precious? I was trying to slow down with the aprons, but when I saw this one on her Facebook page, I just couldn't resist!
Monogrammed in hot pink!
She lined it with a darling Easter bunny fabric...so I can reverse it wear it on Sunday!
Cute little bunny motif!
Hot pink bow...oh-so me! You can see more of Aimee's aprons on her Etsy site.
The kitchen table, set for Brunch. Yes, this is about the same setting as I had last Easter, with a few of the details changed.
The bunny centerpiece is from The Cracker Barrel...
Lenox Anna Griffin plates, green 'Bordello Pinheiro' J. Willfred plates, and rattan chargers from Williams-Sonoma.
I found these cute little placecards at Michael's last Spring.
The yellow napkins and carrot napkin rings came from Pier One.
The sideboard Springtime setting....
Tulips and yellow gingham flatware.

The hutch with a Spring-y theme...

The green plates are Majolica 'Green Leaf' and the yellow plates and parfait cups are from A Special Place, which I'm not sure is still in business.....

I served Paula Deen's Cheesy Maple-Pork Breakfast Casserole*. This a great recipe for a brunch casserole and can be made ahead and popped in the oven the day of your event. {I used my iPhone to capture these photos...so please excuse the quality y'all!}

Blogger Issues: I couldn't type in the space below the photo of the casserole...so the next photos are of the Yogurt & Cereal Parfaits...I used Pecan Crunch Cereal and added dried cranberries and non-fat yogurt. Delish!

This is the "Brunch Bread" I served with an icing drizzled over the top...
The "Brunch Bread" is available on my Taste of Gourmet site...perfect for luncheons and brunches!
I served the bread along with some Strawberry Butter...made from my Strawberry Preserves and
Smart Balance butter mixed 1/2 and 1/2 of each!
I also served fresh mixed fruit in waffle cups...

The dip for the fruit is non-fat whipped cream mixed with my Taste of Gourmet Cinn-ful Fruit Dip.

Teatime...Served from my 'Bordella Pinheiro' teaset...
This "Youthberry" tea mixed with the "Wild Orange Blossom" tea from Teavana is my latest tea obsession. They are both herbal teas and the flavor is just SO refreshing. I love this tea served either hot or cold!
Recipe for Paula Deen's Cheesy Maple-Pork Breakfast Casserole:
{Makes 8-10 servings}

1 pound ground maple pork sausage
6 slices soft hearty white bread
1 {8-ounce} package shredded triple Cheddar Cheese {I used non-fat cheddar}
8 large eggs
2 cups whole milk {I used non-fat milk}
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon seasoned pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt

Spray a 13 x 9 inch {I made 2 small dishes} baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. In a large skillet, cook sausage over medium heat, stirring frequently, for about 10 minutes or until browned and crumbly; drain well on paper towels. Cut and discard crusts from bread; cut bread slices in half, and arrange in a single layer in prepared baking dish, cutting pieces to fit as necessary to cover bottom of dish. Sprinkle with sausage and cheese. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, mustard, pepper, and salt; carefully pour mixture over cheese. Cover with plastic wrap, and chill for 8 hours. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Let chilled casserole stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake casserole for 40 minutes or until set and golden. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
