Summer Porches

 I snapped a photo of my front porch this morning. My porches keep getting smaller with every move.

I have a large lanai in the back which overlooks the fairway at our golf club. I decorated it with Lilly Pulitzer loot and now I’m tired of that. I still wear my Lilly, just don’t want my house to be Lilly-field anymore. I will change it up, just trying to decide how I want it to look. 

It’s so hot and humid in Florida right now that I’m not using either porches. Summer has always been my least favorite time of the year. There isn’t much going on in July and August. I’m looking forward to Labor Day…football season and pumpkin-everything! 

Lilly Pulitzer + Pottery Barn

Pottery Barn is going preppy y’all!

Well, today is the first day of March and I’m up early checking the Lilly Pulitzer site and all the Pottery Barn sites, and...nothing.  The collab between Lilly and Pottery Barn was supposed to launch in March—a collection of bedding, furniture, decor, and entertaining pieces.  This brand will also have a new, limited-edition clothing collection for women and girls.

Last Saturday I was in a Pottery Barn store and was unable to get any info from the sales staff.  I guess that’s part of the marketing...build it up like crazy and keep the followers waiting and wondering.  I’m sure it will be what pink and green dreams are made of, but I won’t be camping out at a Pottery Barn store like the Lilly for Target  fiasco.


The photo below features the line’s exclusive print, “Home Slice.”  I love the print and am hoping it will be available in the Sophie Dress!

How I Style My Vests

Since the temps have been in the 70’s here in Georgia, it appears the vest season might be winding down for me.  I thought I would share how I have styled my vests, just in case it’s still vest season where you live.
When I purchased this ‘Cheeky Melon’ Lilly Pulitzer vest, I thought I might not get much wear out of it.  As it turned out, I love the way it coordinates with some of the Lilly prints I own.  I styled it with the ‘Dripping in Jewels’ Elsa blouse (duh, when I realized the vest is lined in this exact print).

It also goes well with the ‘Gimme Some Leg’ Lilly print, as shown with this Beacon dress and below,

with the ‘Gimme Some Leg’ Elsa blouse and navy slacks.

I’m forever searching for the perfect pink vest and although this ‘Tropical Pink’ Blake Lilly vest doesn’t coordinate with a lot of my Lilly, it does match the ‘Peel & Eat’ Linden dress.

This off white vest is one of my staples that I purchased at Belk for about $10.  The monogram makes it cute!

My only camo accessory is the monogrammed cap and I think it looks cute with this Gap vest and pink Hunters.

I love the color of this ‘Iris Blue’ Blake Lilly vest.  The lining is the same print as the ‘Lilly’s Lagoon’ Marlowe dress.

I love this yellow Lilly vest paired with the aqua.  The lining print is just adorable—wish it were reversible.

I have so many Lilly pieces that pair well with this ‘Breakwater Blue’ Lilly Isabelle vest.  In this photo I paired it with the ‘Going Coastal’ Lilly Marlowe dress and blue Hunter boots.  And...

in this photo, I paired it with the ‘Crystal Coast’ Lilly popover.

I love this Land’s End pale pink vest paired with a brown turtleneck and pale pink Hunters.  I carried my Neo Noe Rose Poudre Louis Vuitton bag...obsessed with the Rose Poudre!

This navy blue ‘Excursion vest’ from J Crew goes great with hot pink.  Love this with the hot pink Hunters.

I love this ‘Va Voom’ Lilly vest with the ‘Lulu’ lining, paired with green gingham and the violet Hunters.

I also love that Lilly is coming out with more purple/lavender prints and the ‘Havin A Blast’ Marlowe dress looks cute with the ‘Va Voom’ Lilly vest.

I purchased this navy blue stripe vest at TJ Maxx a couple of years ago and love it with the ‘Gloria Cotton Grass Green’ Lilly crewneck sweater.

I think it also looks cute layered with a v-neck cableknit and a tartan blouse.

This ‘In the Beginning’ Lilly vest is one of my favorites.  The print is so bright and cheerful and I’m STILL forever searching for the ‘Worth’ jeans in this print.  I love it with the pink gingham, because gingham goes with everything!

‘Spike the Punch’ is another one of my favorite Lilly prints and again I mixed the printed vest with pink gingham.

I wore this Ralph Lauren tartan vest during the holidays.  I’ve had this one for years and still love it.

Lilly Pulitzer New Favorites

I changed my Instagram profile to read “Occasional Blogger.”  After not blogging for a month, maybe it should read “I rarely blog.”  Anyway, I’m back to share some of my new favorites from Lilly Pulitzer.  I still love the “classic summer shifts,” but the cotton shift dresses they are making now just don’t fit me anymore—too short and too tight.  Of course it could be that I’m now more into stretchy, comfy fabrics!
Here are a few of the new dresses (soft and stretchy) that I am loving:
Lord have mercy, this one rings all the bells for me.  This is the Sophie Ruffle Dress (rayon spandex jersey) in the "Via Amor" print with flamingoes and ruffled sleeves!  I have this one on my wish list for sure.

The Marlowe T-shirt dresses are my new favorites.  This one in the Lila Verbena "Coco Safari" is a classic look.  I love the Pima cotton t-shirt dresses.


Lilly Pulitzer is killing me with the bows on the sleeves of the Pima cotton Preston Dress in the "Multi Ocean Commotion" print.

The Sophie Dress is another favorite of mine, this one in the "Multi Gypset Paradise" print and this dress has UPF 50+ protection!

Popovers are also a favorite of mine.  They are stylish and layer well with a gingham blouse underneath/vest on top.  This new print is "Seaside Blue Honda Classic" toile and was a must-purchase for me as I have all of the Lilly golf prints.  I’m hoping for a somewhat cool day at the Masters this April so I can wear this with pink shorts.  Of course, my outfit and accessories for the day are already planned.

As I rarely leave home without a cute cap and ponytail bow, the matching “Honda Classic” cap was also a must-buy for moi!

Do I need the matching getaway tote bag? Probably. It’s on “the list.”

I added this to my new faves just because of the color.  The Lana scarf in "Seasalt Tint" will go with a lot of my Lilly.  That $98 price tag though!  Checking Target for a better buy on this.

These Julie sneakers are new and I’m just not sure about them.  I love the “Tropicolada” print, but  I would have rather seen these sneakers in a pink and green print.

Lilly-fied Christmas Tree

I still love Lilly Pulitzer, but being honest, I just don't buy as much as I used to.  The styles are way too short for me now and are really geared for the young girls.  That's okay, because I have enough Lilly that I never need to wear the same outfit twice between Easter and Labor Day!

I have always had a Lilly-fied Christmas tree and last year I found a cute pink tree in the At Home store.  It was a display and the lights were dead, so I added the Lilly for Target gold lantern lights and also some pink flamingo lights.

I decorated it with Lilly Pulitzer ornaments and pink and green bulbs.  Of course, the topper is my monogram.

I have removed a lot of the pink in my home decor but the office is still decked out in everything pink and green.  I'll be back later in the week with more of my Christmas decor. 

Interview With Mary Lane, Part 2

Mary, we are long-time friends on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.  I totally admit that I covet your colorful Lilly wardrobe and it seems that you wear Lilly every single day!  Is that true?
Yes, it is true - I wear Lilly every day.  The only exceptions are when I have an event at the University of Florida and need to don my orange and blue.  Luckily, Lilly makes a lot of Gator blue that I can accent with orange.

Do you plan your outfits in advance or do you just walk inside your closet and put one together on the spot?
I usually plan my outfits in advance.  It all depends on the day's events, the weather, and what strikes my fancy.  On those days that don't plan ahead, I usually run late.  So many choices...

Would you share with my readers your all-time favorite Lilly possession?This is a tough question as there are many.  The Lilly item that I use the most is my Lilly Pulitzer low speed vehicle that is street legal (golf cart).  It is just too much fun!  My dog, Lilly loves to go riding in it.  I especially enjoy picking up to go food with curbside delivery and when they ask what kind of vehicle you will be arriving in, I answer a pink and green golf cart.

Other items that I covet are a vintage Lilly tennis ball, a Lilly golf bag, some original Lilly paintings, a beach umbrella and beach chairs (not from the Target line), the Lane dress from the Resort Collection, and the Lane skirts from many years ago.  I also treasure a pair of patchwork jeans from many years ago that were a limited edition and numbered!  My first visit to the Pink Palace was for Lunch at Lilly.  On this visit, we got to design a dress and that too is one of my favorite items.  It is a simple shift in the Cabanarama print.  I also treasure a Lilly palm tree and a few other items from some of the older stores.  One of my guest bedrooms was painted by one of the Lilly designers.  It is my happy place and one of the best
auction items ever scored.

Some of the most treasured Lilly possessions are the friends that I have made through Lilly. Many of them are lifelong friends that I just adore.  I can think of no other brand that has brought so many people together--a special sorority of sorts.

Is there by chance a Lilly piece that got away from you…one that even the “Lady with the most Lilly” is still in search of?I love all of the older Lilly pieces and there were several items from the white label that I do not have.  Believe it or not, there was a time when there were not corporate stores and online shopping was not available.  One item that I never could find was a pink and green striped cashmere hoodie that was adorable.

If you had to choose one, which is your favorite Lilly season…Resort, Spring, Summer, or Fall?Oh, I love them all!  I never met a collection that I did not like.

Do you shop for LP at Lilly stores and Lilly’s online site exclusively?I mostly shop at Lilly corporate stores and I am a fixture in the Winter Park store.  One of the things on my bucket list is to visit them all.  This is becoming a challenge as they are opening so many stores now.  I also shop online too. When I am traveling and there is a signature store in the area, I will stop in for a visit.  Each store has its own unique personality and decor which is fun to see. When I am in the North East, I enjoy visiting the In the Pink stores.  When at the University of Florida, I like to stop in and see the girls at the Pink Narcissus and of course, when in Palm Beach, no trip is complete without a trip to C Orrico.

Do you keep an inventory of your Lilly possessions?I really should and I used to keep a list but I have not kept up with this.  I do keep all of the Look Books and catalogs and mark the items that I have.

Did you shop the “Lilly for Target” sale and what are your feelings about that collaboration?
The excitement over the Target collection was just too much to bear so I hopped on a plane and went the launch in Bryant Park in NYC.  It was fabulous and in pure Lilly style.  My hotel room had a balcony that overlooked Bryant Park and I woke up several times throughout the night to see if a line was forming yet.  Heather and I were one of the first in line that wrapped around the block and had so much fun shopping the event.  To our dismay, you could only purchase 5 items and they were not selling the hammocks or beach umbrellas.  We did manage to get some great items.  The launch was so successful in that it sold out in the afternoon, well before the slated time to close.

The launch party in Bryant Park was complete with a juice stand and handsome waiters serving orange juice.  The water in the fountain was dyed pink, there were hammocks and beach chairs everywhere as Lilly models strolled through the park in "Lilly for Target" fashions.  The Lilly artists were on hand painting, manicurists were polishing nails in "Lilly for Target" polish and you could play a game of ping pong on a custom painted table.  I never wanted to leave as it was a perfect spring day.

Before the launch party, I was confident that the line for Target would have quality products. I mean after all, Lilly's name was on it.  I was even more impressed when I actually got to see everything in Bryant Park.  The home goods were a brilliant idea as these were items that the Lilly stores probably did not have the space to merchandise.  The fashions were designed so that they could still be chic but more affordable.

With all of the excitement at the launch party in NYC, I knew the online sale and the sale in the stores would be huge!  I had to have the hammock and umbrella, so I actually pulled an all nighter.  I had my blanket and pillow in my study alongside of my computer, phone, and iPad.  Facebook friends were chatting and giving each other tips.  Friends were texting one another in the wee hours of the morning.  By about 5 am, I had secured the elusive hammock and beach umbrella.  There was just enough time to shower and get dressed to line up for the opening of the Target store.  Once again, there was a strategy and Team Lilly was in line.  We all had our assignments and within 10 minutes there was nothing left in the store.  We did score a few items that each wanted.

Overall, I think the collaboration with Target was a great idea.  It was an opportunity to introduce Lilly to those that may have not been familiar with the brand or able to purchase Lilly in their local area.  It gave some the chance to own their first Lilly and hopefully created a lot of new Lilly Lovers.

Football season is upon us and I know you are a huge Florida Gators fan.  Would you share your favorite Gameday outfit?
 For most of the games, I am fortunate to be in a suite so I can dress up for the game.  I am usually in an orange and blue dress with a pair of Gator Jack Rogers to complete the attire.  How great is it that this year, Lilly made a gator cuff, earrings, and necklace!  These will be great accessories for Gameday.

If you know, how many Lilly Pulitzer pieces do you own?  (Don’t be shy!)I have never counted how many pieces of Lilly that I own as it just keeps growing.  Plus, if I counted and knew the answer, it might scare me.  I would guess there are several thousand pieces in my collection.

Do you ever sell or donate pieces from your collection?
I have never sold any pieces from my collection as I just cannot part with them.  Maybe one day I will but not now.
