How I Style My Vests

Since the temps have been in the 70’s here in Georgia, it appears the vest season might be winding down for me.  I thought I would share how I have styled my vests, just in case it’s still vest season where you live.
When I purchased this ‘Cheeky Melon’ Lilly Pulitzer vest, I thought I might not get much wear out of it.  As it turned out, I love the way it coordinates with some of the Lilly prints I own.  I styled it with the ‘Dripping in Jewels’ Elsa blouse (duh, when I realized the vest is lined in this exact print).

It also goes well with the ‘Gimme Some Leg’ Lilly print, as shown with this Beacon dress and below,

with the ‘Gimme Some Leg’ Elsa blouse and navy slacks.

I’m forever searching for the perfect pink vest and although this ‘Tropical Pink’ Blake Lilly vest doesn’t coordinate with a lot of my Lilly, it does match the ‘Peel & Eat’ Linden dress.

This off white vest is one of my staples that I purchased at Belk for about $10.  The monogram makes it cute!

My only camo accessory is the monogrammed cap and I think it looks cute with this Gap vest and pink Hunters.

I love the color of this ‘Iris Blue’ Blake Lilly vest.  The lining is the same print as the ‘Lilly’s Lagoon’ Marlowe dress.

I love this yellow Lilly vest paired with the aqua.  The lining print is just adorable—wish it were reversible.

I have so many Lilly pieces that pair well with this ‘Breakwater Blue’ Lilly Isabelle vest.  In this photo I paired it with the ‘Going Coastal’ Lilly Marlowe dress and blue Hunter boots.  And...

in this photo, I paired it with the ‘Crystal Coast’ Lilly popover.

I love this Land’s End pale pink vest paired with a brown turtleneck and pale pink Hunters.  I carried my Neo Noe Rose Poudre Louis Vuitton bag...obsessed with the Rose Poudre!

This navy blue ‘Excursion vest’ from J Crew goes great with hot pink.  Love this with the hot pink Hunters.

I love this ‘Va Voom’ Lilly vest with the ‘Lulu’ lining, paired with green gingham and the violet Hunters.

I also love that Lilly is coming out with more purple/lavender prints and the ‘Havin A Blast’ Marlowe dress looks cute with the ‘Va Voom’ Lilly vest.

I purchased this navy blue stripe vest at TJ Maxx a couple of years ago and love it with the ‘Gloria Cotton Grass Green’ Lilly crewneck sweater.

I think it also looks cute layered with a v-neck cableknit and a tartan blouse.

This ‘In the Beginning’ Lilly vest is one of my favorites.  The print is so bright and cheerful and I’m STILL forever searching for the ‘Worth’ jeans in this print.  I love it with the pink gingham, because gingham goes with everything!

‘Spike the Punch’ is another one of my favorite Lilly prints and again I mixed the printed vest with pink gingham.

I wore this Ralph Lauren tartan vest during the holidays.  I’ve had this one for years and still love it.

Thank you for visiting with me today!

Lilly Pulitzer for Target

Target's collaborative effort with Lilly Pulitzer is coming up this Sunday and I'm not gonna lie, I'm a bit nervous.

Everyone is asking me if I have a shopping strategy?  Of course, I do. (I've been doing Target + Lilly recon work since the announcement back in January!)   I will stay up late Saturday evening/Sunday morning to shop online at Target first.  If I don't get all the items on my list, then I'll be off to my local Target to compete with other local Lilly lovers for the in-store items.

My Lilly P outfit is pressed and ready to go.  "Here's What I'm Gonna Wear":
The Lilly Pulitzer Originals 'Floaters' shift, pink Topsiders, and white cardi.  Since the Weather Channel is calling for a 90% chance of rain at my location, I'll carry my Lilly 'Floaters' umbrella too.

I've have checked out the Look Book at Target numerous times and my list is long...these are the top five must-have items on my shopping list...

The 'Boom Boom' Umbrella and the 'Nosie Posey' Hammock.  I can't use them yet because my backyard is a mess, but they are just too cute and I must have them both!

The 'Fan Dance' Shift.  If I don't get this one, I might shed some tears.

The 'Nosie Posey' Button Down Blouse is precious...a must have!

The Embroidered Clutch...I just love this and it can be used with so many outfits.

I'm so excited for this sale and can't understand those Lilly Pulitzer fans who are saying that Lilly Pulitzer must be rolling over in her grave because this sale devalues the Lilly brand. I don't believe she would turn down her nose to a budget-friendly sale of her fabulous loot!  I buy Lilly for the patterns, styles, and colors...not the price!   And...you can bet there will be shoppers buying to resell the items at a huge markup on eBay or other online Lilly resell sites. There really should be a limit on the number of items you can purchase.  But whatever.

If you are going to the sale, shop nice y'all!

Monogram Monday

I'm just starting my collection of these cute monogrammed bangles by Stacy Brown Designs.  I was concerned that they would be too large for my wrists, but I wear mine with a cluster pearl bracelet and it holds them on just fine.  So far I have the "Check Ya Self" red and white buffalo check, "I Stripe the Way You  Work It" animal print, and the "Check Ya Self" pink and white buffalo check.

My friend Joy always mixes red and turquoise and I really like the two colors together.

Today I'm stepping outside of my comfort zone and wearing turquoise with red! I have to take advantage of the sunny days in Middle Georgia, so I'm wearing a gingham button down with a turquoise sweater.

I love these monogrammed bangles and here are just few on my "Wish List."  The geometric pattern is adorable.

Love this one with a clover pattern.

Yikes, I needed this one for Mardi Gras!

I wear a lot of pink and orange in the summer and this one is perfect.  It's a must-have for me!

I purchased my bangles through Frillseeker's Gifts...they have a cute shop in Destin, Florida full of cute loot!  Speaking of Frillseeker's, and because it's Monogram Monday, look at these adorable wreaths shown on their homepage.  I absolutely love the doors and the wreaths!

New Year's Eve

Today we are traveling to Tampa and tonight we will attend a progressive dinner party to celebrate the New Year.

Here's What I'm Wearing on the roadtrip:  I borrowed the garnet gingham shirt from my husband's closet and paired it with the Talbot's crewneck and a pair of leggings.  The ballet flats are from The Gap.

HERE'S WHAT I'M WEARING this evening:  The Lilly Pulitzer "Janice" dress is fast becoming my favorite!  I'll also be wearing the Lilly Pulitzer gold murfee wrap with the dress and my gold Revas.

When the night is through, I'll be wearing these cute Nick and Nora champagne-motif  PJ's from Target.

Our host for a couple of days is hosting the final party stop at his house and will serve the desserts and cocktails, and lots of midnight revelry.  I am providing the party favors.  These are my favorites to give on New Year's Eve...Blackeye Peas!

Here's some New Year's Eve Toasting Etiquette tips:
  • The host of the party should give the toast.
  • Practice what you want to say.
  • Begin your toast close to midnight...before the countdown.
  • On New Year's Eve the toast is about a celebration, not the beverage.  It's perfectly acceptable to toast with a non-alcoholic beverage, although it's a tradition to drink champagne on New Year's Eve.
  • Be Short, Be Sweet!
  • Clinking glasses is an etiquette faux pas.  Lift your glass and point it in the direction of the person delivering the toast.
  • Remember to serve the most important guest first, then other guests, and the host fills his glass last.

Here are some of my New Year's superstitions!
  • I'll be eating lots of blackeye peas, pork, collard greens, and cornbread.  They all are hopefully going to bring me money and good luck.
  • I'll open all the doors to let the old year out and the new year in.
  • No chicken for me on New Year's Day or I'll experience financial difficulties.
  • I won't be washing any clothes...that's bad luck.
  • I won't be taking any garbage out...again, bad luck.
  • All my Christmas trees have been taken down...Mama says that leaving them up on New Year's Day is bad luck!
Are you superstitious about what you do on New Year's Day?

Hey Y'all!

I just realized a few days ago that I have not blogged in several weeks!  I've been busy getting ready to go away for a couple of of months... tomorrow I'm off to California, Nevada, and then to Georgia to stay with my Mama for awhile!  Of course, Mama raised me to make sure the house was clean when I go away...just in case I don't come back.  "Lord have mercy, you don't want mourners coming into a dirty house!"

So, I've been busy...I Annie Sloan-ed this cabinet in the kitchen.  It's "Old Ochre" and I love the way you can use the paint indoors...there are no paint fumes!  Once I got started, then I had to clean and organize the entire kitchen!

Polishing all the silver...

Went through my stash of paper plates...I'm a paper plate hoarder!  The two patterns in the bottom photo are my favorites.

Then it was on to my paper napkins...I do crack myself up all the time!

Just a few of my napkin rings and place card holders.

I cleaned everything on top of my cabinets.  Only six roosters survived the reorganization plan!

On my way to my friend Lane's house with the stuff that didn't make the cut...I'm not a very good packer.  But, I do love to give Lane my loot, 'cuz she makes me Cuban coffee in exchange.  Worth it!!!

I entertained with a very informal supper.  Pink rooster and gingham dinnerware.

I served strawberry shortcake for dessert.  This is my husband's favorite dessert!

During my cleaning spree, I took a break for "Elevenses Tea" served on the kitchen island.  That little rooster teapot was one of the fortunate roosters to survive my cleanup!

Here's some of the outfits I've been wearing:

'Derby Day' Lilly Pulitzer shift.

Monogrammed 'Havana Good Time' Lilly Pulitzer shift.

'Oh Jackie' Lilly Pulitzer shift.

I can't remember where I bought this comfy orange tunic.  I do love the J Crewlet tortoise cuff with the monogrammed decal I slapped on it.

I loved the black gingham blouse and bright yellow J Crewlet cardi.  Of course the purse, shoes, and belt are all Chanel.  But, the stars of this outfit are the critter bangles from Target!

Today starts the first leg of my vacation...Palm Beach to Palm Springs!

This morning, I served a light Brunch to celebrate the first day of our vacation.  In the words of Lee Radziwill, "Brunch after 11 am is just lunch!"  So y'all make sure you serve Brunch before 11 am!

Getting ready with a little roadie for the trip to the airport...I have a huge fear of flying!!!
