Garden and Gun Recommended...O'Steen's Restaurant

Have you seen this list?  Garden and Gun magazine has travelled the South for y'all and come up with all the best foods to eat before you die.

Lord have mercy, yesterday I was driving up the east coast of Florida on my way to visit my friend Joy and stopped in at O'Steen's restaurant in beautiful, historic St. Augustine.  Their fried shrimp is on the list!  The restaurant is smaller than I expected and was packed with a line out the door at 2pm.  Operated by Minorcan descendants, this seafood spot is definitely worth the wait.
The fried shrimp did not disappoint.  I ordered the 6-butterflied shrimp platter, which came with two sides and a hush puppy.  These shrimp definitely are a must!  The batter is very light and thin and their special sauce is the perfect condiment for dipping.  Of course the sides of cole slaw and field peas were delish!  Oh, and the sweet tea was steeped and sweetened just right!

Y'all simply must stop in and try their fried shrimp if you find yourself in the area of St. Augustine...just south of Jacksonville.  The restaurant is located at 205 Anastasia Boulevard in the scenic, historic area.   Please note if you go:  Bring cash...they do not accept debit/credit cards!

O'Steen's is also very close to the St. Augustine Outlet Mall, which is full of designer outlet stores.  I couldn't help myself and added this chartreuse Kate Spade "Quinn" pocketbook to my collection.

Hope y'all are having a wonderful day.  I'm visiting my friend on Tybee Island, Georgia before I head over to my Mama's.  Thanks for visiting with me today.

Happy New Year

The holiday season is coming to a close and the new year is fast approaching.  I must say that I haven't made many resolutions that are different from those I made in previous years...just to exercise more and hopefully that a special wish of mine will come true in 2014!

I prepared my New Year "Friendship Gifts"...using gold stripe paper pales from the $1 bin at Target, pink shred, and pink champagne mini bottles, with a "Cheers" tag attached.

Tonight I'm wearing my mama's black velvet pants with a ruffled blouse and black sequined cardo.  The glitter bow belt was a find at Target and my shoes are Kate Spade.

Getting ready to party!

Here's a peek at my New Year's Dinner tablescape...

A look back at my holiday outfits and such...

I wore my Old Navy glitter flats to Happy Hour last weekend.

I gave lots of gifts cards to friends and family for Christmas and placed them inside the cute Anthropologie initial mugs.

This was the outfit I wore on Christmas Eve.  The blouse is from J Crew, the cardi is from TJ Maxx, the skirt is from Target, the gold Revas are by Tory Burch, and the gold monogrammed sash is from Laroque.

My accessories for a Christmas party...shoes by Kate Spade, glitter bow belt by Kate Spade and Chanel fragrance, lipstick, and nail polish.

Christmas party outfit...Blouse by Kate Spade, glitter bow belt by Kate Spade, and navy blue taffeta skirt by J. Crew.

Happy Hour with Target tumblers, straws, and cocktail napkins.

Another casual holiday outfit...sweater from Banana Republic, vest from Ralph Lauren, gold glitter loafers from The Gap.

So that's it for 2013.  Happy New Year to y'all and I hope y'all have a healthy and happy 2014!!!

Friday Style File

Today I am featuring Carly, the author of the blog College Prep. I met Carly online several years ago when I first started blogging.

During the Spring of 2009, to celebrate Lilly Pulitzer's Golden Jubilee, I hosted a luncheon on my front porch...with a Lilly Pulitzer theme. I also hosted an online fashion show, with Lilly lovers modeling their favorite Lilly outfits. Of course, Miss Carly looked stunning in this photo she submitted, of a fabulous Lilly dress which she wore to her high school prom! Click HERE for a link to the post.

Carly is now a Senior at Georgetown University and has a written a book "The Freshman Fifty," about her journey through the first year of college...a must-read for those entering their freshman year.
In addition to her studies, she is also the Editor-in-Chief of Sweet Lemon Magazine, a digital magazine committed to women in their 20's.
The photo below is from a cover shoot for the magazine...

Carly is a huge fan of Kate Spade...
Carly always gives us a peek into her Outfits of the Day...aka OOTD. She is on Spring break right now and this was her "travel outfit." Love the J Crew red gingham blouse, monogrammed of course...and the pearls are perfect. If you look close at the photo, you'll see her phone cover is one of the cute new Kate Spade covers! Love it! The red Longchamp bag is darling with the outfit and I love the wrist stack--the Cartier watch, gold bangle, and monogrammed bracelet.

Love the green J Crew cardi in this OOTD. I also love that she photos herself in her dorm room...and her bed is always made!!!

In this OOTD, she's wearing a bright yellow cardi, Eastland Penny Loafers, and those precious earrings are from Knotty Monkeys on Etsy.

This past Valentine's Day she wore a cute 'Jonah' dress by Lilly and accessorized it with a pink monogrammed scarf. I also spy a pair of Jack Rogers flats!! I LOVE this outfit and wish I had thought to wear it on Valentine's Day! How cute!!!

LOVE this OOTD...LOVE the plaid shirt and the J Crew cable cardi is monogrammed! The Bean boots look fabulous with this outfit.

Classic Carly...wearing a Lilly dress, pearls and a bangle wrist stack, and Jack Rogers flats.

Collegiate Carly {College Prep}...White blouse, grey cable cardigan pullover, J Crew blazer, pearls, black slacks, black J Crew classic ballet flats, and bangle and monogrammed bracelet wrist stack.

I really love Carly's style...it's classic and timeless. Ladies of all ages can get ideas from her and put together outfits using the classic cardigans, shirts, shoes, et cetera. You can follow Carly on Twitter or like her Facebook page...College Prep--for more Carly, all the time!!!
