Prissy Lunch with BF Joan

I wanted to introduce to y'all my BF Joan Allen Hart...I was happy to visit with her in her home when I was in Augusta recently for the wedding of my late BF Teresa Jane's son.  Here's a snapshot of the wedding party.  I absolutely LOVE this photo.  Looking at this, my wedding album seems so dull and boring now!

The thoughtful bride and groom left a bouquet of flowers in the seat for the grooms' mama...my BF Teresa Jane!  Broke my heart.

"HERE'S WHAT I WORE"  The caspian blue 'Blakely' dress is by J. Crew and the lime green monogrammed sash is by Annabelle Laroque.

My Accessories:  A blue Ferragamo pocketbook, blue Tory Burch Revas, a lime green iPhone cover, pearl necklace and studs, 'Eternity' wedding band by Cartier, and a Chanel hair barrette.

This is my BF Joan Hart Allen.  She invited me and our other BF Miss Joy over for a girls prissy lunch.  Joy and I both have been friends with Joan since 1971.  She's a real estate agent and lives at Westlake in Evans with her husband!  Joan was raised out in the country in Warrenton, Georgia and comes from a "fine family"...as they say in the South!  Unfortunately, Joan is grieving the recent loss of both her mama and her daddy.  They died within a few months of each other.  Joan is a fine Christian Southern lady and her home is just beautiful...very Southern!

I'm hanging out by her silver service set.  "HERE'S WHAT I WORE"  The shift is 'Shrimp Cocktail' by Lilly and the pink cardigan is also by Lilly.

My Accessories:  Pink monogrammed Bermuda Bag is by Lilly as are the pink mules.  I wore my pearl necklace and studs, my 'Oyster Perpetual' Rolex, and my 'Eternity' wedding band by Cartier.  iPhone cover...pink!

Miss Joy and Miss Joan...

The three of us...friends for a long, long time!

I can take some of the silliest photos...this is Joan's backyard...backing up to the golf course at Westlake Country Club.

In her kitchen...

Joan has cabinets full of Fitz and Floyd 'French Market Pig' dinnerware...you can see the fabulous tureen and platter on the bottom shelf.

Joan also has a fabulous collection of Arthur Court platters.

The breakfast room overlooks the golf course.

Her formal dining room...with a fireplace!  The table is set for 3...

Traditional sideboard in the dining room.

Joan used her Noritake 'Salvador' china for this prissy lunch.  Of course she made sure to have sterling iced teaspoons at each setting.

The Menu:

Green Jacket Salad
Chicken and Broccoli Casserole*
Roasted Potatoes
Grilled Parmesan Tomatoes
Grilled Asparagus

Sister Schubert Rolls
Southern Iced Tea

Dessert and Coffee...Apple pie with vanilla ice cream AND strawberry shortcake.  {Obviously, I fell off the "Clean Living" diet for the day!}

Joan was such a gracious hostess and it was so fun being with my two good friends!  Joan gave me a copy of "Streams in the Desert".  This a a wonderful gift to give...it contains a full year of daily devotions and I'm really enjoying it!

Recipe for Miss Joan's Chicken and Broccoli Casserole:

2-3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cooked and diced
2-3 crowns of broccoli, cooked
2     cans of Cream of Chicken soup
1/2  cup of Hellman's mayo
1/4  tsp squeezed lemon
1/4   tsp curry powder
1/2   cup cheddar cheese, grated
1     can French's fried onions

Boil chicken breasts in salted water until cooked.  Remove from broth and cool.  Slice broccoli crowns or chop and cook for a few minutes until tender.  Arrange broccoli in a casserole dish.  Mix cream of chicken soup, mayo, lemon juice, and curry powder together well and then stir in cooked chicken, pour over the broccoli and then sprinkle cheese over mixture.  Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes and remove and add fried onions and continue cooking for approximately 5 minutes or until fried onions are brown and remove and let stand for 5 minutes.

I can't wait to go back to Georgia and visit my BF's and I'm so grateful for our long-time friendships.

Thank you stopping by to visit with me today!

Teresa Jane

Teresa Jane Printup Putnam
July 31,1952 - April 26, 2012
Yesterday my BFF Teresa Jane died...after ten years of battling lung disease, Teresa Jane passed away peacefully in her own bed...at home.  My heart is broken into a million pieces.  40 years of friendship...This girl was the best friend anyone could have ever wished for.  We met while working at J.B. White's {now Dillard's} at the National Hills Shopping Center in Augusta, Georgia.  I was working in the Gift Wrap department and Miss Teresa was in Cosmetics.  While gossiping during a break {probably about some snooty girl}, we became  fast friends from Day 1.  Through the years, Teresa proved to be a loyal and trust-worthy friend, even during some of the lowest moments of my life.  She remained loyal to me even when I made terrible choices...she always had my back!!!

After I started my blog, Teresa would tease me and say "Oh your blog readers think you wear those prissy outfits everyday...Let me put some photos from my scrapbook of you on your blog...so your readers can see how you really dress!"  Whenever I would visit her, we would wear our stretchy pants for days on end...

In her memory, I'm proud to show y'all how we really dressed when I went to Georgia...stretchy pants!!!

Miss Janice and Teresa Jane...wearing our stretchy pants...at Teresa' s home in Augusta.

This is one of my favorites photos of young Miss Teresa Jane {on the left} with her beloved sistah Barbara {on the right}  Barbara loved her so much!

Teresa Jane's home in Evans, Georgia.   Even though she was very ill, she loved to shop online and decorate her home.  Y'all may remember in the past I have featured her guest bath with the black and white Hollywood movie star photos and also her gorgeous kitchen redo.  We were talking about a new valance for her kitchen window just this past weekend, even though she hadn't even been able to walk into her kitchen for a long time, but she still wanted it to be pretty.  She wanted black buffalo checks with roosters to coordinate with her MacKenzie-Childs accessories!

The men in Teresa Jane's life.  Her sweet boy Stoney and the love of her life, her husband J.D.  Bless J.D.'s heart, he so lovingly cared for her until the end!  My heart breaks for them both.

Teresa Jane's son Stoney will be married to Miss Sarah on Sunday, May 27, 2012.
Yesterday, on the day of her death, I received this precious card in the mail from Teresa Jane...

Even near the end of her life and barely able to hold the pen,  my friend  was thinking of me...thanking me for the flowers I sent her while she was in the hospital recently.
With tears streaming down my face, I truly thank the Lord for my friendship with Teresa.  May she gaze upon the Lord face to face, and taste the blessedness of perfect rest.  May angels surround her and saints welcome her in peace.  Goodbye my friend...

Happy Easter

The church is always decorated beautifully for Easter Sunday!
Hallelujah! He is Risen!!!
After spending way too much time hunting online and in the malls for an Easter frock, I finally decided to hunt down one in my own closet. Immediately, I spied this little green and white number that I purchased about 4-5 years ago at Coldwater Creek. With the ivory shrug, it was perfect...nothing fancy, just a bit Spring-y! Pearl necklace, earrings, and bracelet and of course, pink Revas!
I won't be serving my traditional Easter Sunday dinner today. Since it's Master's Sunday also, I'm cooking for about ten guys, who will be watching the tournament with my husband. We have a cottage detached from our our home..."The Romper Room"...perfect for them to party and act like houligans!

The two-story building is "The Romper Room at the Roost"
I was so excited that Fred Couples was the co-leader going into Saturday's round and wanted him to win another Green Jacket, but it appears now that it won't happen for him this year. Boo hiss...he's so cute! {grown girl eye candy} I was disgusted with Tiger Woods' language and behavior {kicking his club} on Friday afternoon. He's sooooo tacky! It seems that Tiger needs a bit more anger management rehab. In the words of golfer and CBS analyst Nick Faldo, "I think we can safely say Tiger has lost his game...and his mind."

So...after feeding the fellas, I'll relax and watch the tournament in peace and quiet. I gave up chocolate for Lent, so you can bet I'll be into some of these truffles!
Cheering for Phil Mickelson today. Hope he does well and takes home another Green Jacket!
I'll also be thinking and praying for my bff, who is very ill. This is a photo of her taken many years ago at the Masters with her favorite golfer Ben Crenshaw. Today, I'm sure the Masters is on the TV in the room where she is in Augusta. Thank you so much to all y'all who are praying for Teresa Jane.
