Here Comes Honey Boo Boo Child...

Love it or hate it...the premiere show of "Honey Boo Boo" scored #1 in its time slot with 2.2 million viewers.  While some love the show, others detest everything about it!  Social media is all in a tizzy over this show.  I must admit, that just like the show "Hoarders," I just can't look away!

As a fan of "Toddlers and Tiaras," I remember when 6 year-old Alana Thompson was featured last year on the show--where really little girls strut their stuff on stage to win crowns, money, and the coveted "Ultimate Grand Supreme" title.  While usually 3 children are featured each week, Honey Boo Boo was an instant standout, which got her to her own show "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo!"

Lord have mercy y'all, Honey Boo Boo is NOT your typical child beauty queen.

Honey Boo Boo's usual Glam Pageant "Outfit of the Day":   Age-inappropriate makeup, lots of sequins, and hair "Jacked up to Jesus"

Here is Honey Boo Boo with her coupon-queen Mama June.  Honey lives with her family in rural McIntyre, Georgia...population 700.  The family home is filled with bargains Mama June buys with coupons to help save money to finance Honey's pageant fees!

Here is little Miss Honey with her Dance Coach Amanda Carter.

Now y'all might wonder if Honey Boo Boo and I have anything in common?  Well, I certainly wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth.  Like Miss Honey, I was raised in Georgia and have met my share of little girls just like her!

Honey and I both love our pets...mine is a Yorkie named "Coco" who wears clothes that match mine and Honey's pet is a pig named "Glitzy" who wears a tiara.  I can't judge.

Like Miss Janice, Honey also has her own "Signature Beverage!"  She calls it her "Go-Go Juice," a mixture of Mountain Dew and Red Bull.  {This is not good Miss Honey}  Neither are those pixie stick straws--aka "Pageant Crack" which Honey puts down during pageant time...they are full of powdered candy that is mostly sugar.

In an upcoming episode, Honey travels to Warner Robins, Georgia with former Miss Georgia, Michaela Lackey.  They dined at one of my favorite sandwich shops near Mama's house.--McCall's.   This place has the BEST cakes and Honey sampled the Pina Colada, Chocolate Caramel, and Bananna Pudding Cakes...all favorites of mine!

I love beauty pageants y'all.  Always have.  From Toddlers and Tiaras to the Mrs. Senior America...I love them all.  What I would really love to do???  I would love to travel to McIntyre and meet with Honey Boo Boo and her family to teach them social and dining etiquette.

Remember, good manners will open doors that money or the best education cannot!

One of the first episodes had an etiquette teacher pay a call to work with Alana and Pumpkin. Disastrous....but hilarious!! My daughters have me hooked on this show....Heaven help us....

Guess I just don't watch enough TV but all I can say is "Bless her heart and her Mama's, too."

If anyone could teach them proper etiquette it would be Miss Janice.

I honestly have to say, I'm ashamed to admit I'm from Georgia because of this show. Everyone thinks all Georgians are like her.

I don't watch much TV so I have missed Honey Boo Boo. Maybe I'll try to watch sometime. Looks like you would have your work cut out for you Miss Janice but with your charm, I think they would take right to you!

Miss Janice: I just watched an episode on line and you really do have your work cut out for you! LOL!

That would have been too funny if you had come to be their etiquette coach! I love watching this show. I live a couple hours away from their town and a bunch of my co-workers were talking about the show last week. Apparently they all knew about this Redneck Festival in Dublin every year (and they are not rednecks, so they have never attended). They thought I was kidding when I said I had never heard of such a thing. I think the show is a riot, but I really hope people don't think all of us in Georgia act like them!

Thank you Miss Janice. Well said. My sentiments exactly. I have not looked at Miss HOney Boo Boo, and don't intend to. I would be hospitalized immediately from a near fatal heart attack. What is tv coming to in airing such trash as people exploiting their little children? Mama June needs to take herself to Weight Watchers and the gym and take her child to the library and school to be educated.

I simply gag at all this trash on the tele now! It is nonsense...pure nonsense. I find it quite pitiful what some people find entertaining. No thanks, none of this for me!

I have not seen the show, but just cringe every time I see a preview for it!
They could learn a thing or twelve from you, Miss Janice!

I watched the first show, after seeing the family on Toddlers & Tiaras. That will be the only show that I view. After living in "yankee" country for 11 yrs., you would be shocked at how many of them believe that all southerners behave that way.

My daughter LOVES Toddlers and Tiaras! So when it was announces that Alana (Honey Boo Boo) was getting her own show, she was UPSET. Her fav "toddler" was always Eden Woods, but it's hard to turn away from a train wreck. So we have and she does watch Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. I have the least girly girl (and I am GIRLY) but she loves those little girls and there pagents. We even have our own Glitz Pagents (Horse Shows). Today I even told her I was going to start feeding her entire Volleyball team "go-go juice."
Who knows if "Here Comes Honey BooBoo" is really all reality but we watch. It is what it is - entertaining.

Who knows if "Here Comes Honey BooBoo" is really reality, but it is oddly entertaining. My daughter loves, loves, loves "Toddlers and Tiaras" or as we call it "Terrors and Tiaras." I even threaten to feed her Volleyball Team "go-go juice."

I rarely watch any television in "real time" so I overdosed on the first three episodes of Honey Boo Boo in one afternoon. I am fascinated and horrified at the same time...but mostly sad...

I can't help myself - I love pageants, too. As a matter of fact, I am seriously thinking about the Miss Golden America Pageant for women 50 and over - and then blogging about it. Then only 10 more years and I can enter Miss Senior America - YES! But I can not share your love for Honey Boo-Boo. Oh my.

This show is terrible. Teenage pregnancy, children with poor manners,a pig allowed on the table (and pooing). This show makes southerners look bad, and I say this as a native New Yorker. Change a few things and this show would be considered "ghetto".

Hey I watch this show with my wife. I'm from massachusettes. I know people from, mass, Maine, new york, arkansas, new hampshire and other states like this or worse. Those children are at least loved. My mother has plenty of money and a good life and no time for me and abandoned me at 12. So many people critique other people with out knowing the full story. Shame on you. Everyone has skeltons in there closet. How would you like to be judged on them. On another note I like this show and find it more interesting than kim kardshian and her floozy family

Miss Janice said...

Dear Ryan Bowen,
"Shame on me?" Excuse me, but I do believe I gave Miss Honey Boo Boo a good review! I watch the show and while I don't agree with a lot of the behavior that goes on, as a Georgia girl, I "get most of it!"

HOwever, as an etiquette consultant, I would most certainly like to go to McIntyre, Georgia and teach Miss Honey about social and dining etiquette. Since she competes in pageants, she needs to learn everything there is to know about social etiquette...especially making eye contact with others and conversational etiquette.

I'm sorry that this offends you. Thanks for reading!

Regards,
Miss Janice

I have to admit I watched and I laughed, most likely at their expense. It does seem they have alot of love in that group, it just comes in a different package. I just feel like those poor girls do not stand a chance.
