YOU'VE GOT "CUTE MAIL"

Who doesn't like to receive "cute mail"? Presentation is everything, y'all! Today, I'm sending an envelope to my friend and using cute Lilly stickers and labels...along with my personal "Miss Janice" postage stamp.
I started with this cute pink & green Lilly mailing label...with an elephant motif.
The Lilly elephant sticker makes a cute statement on the front corner of the envelope. Remember that your return address should be on the back flap of an envelope for personal mail and on the upper left-hand corner of the front of the envelope for business correspondence.
Since this is personal correspondence, I placed this cute Lilly-fied 'Taboo' print address label on the back flap. You can find these darling labels here.

My own personal "Miss Janice" postage stamp will travel thru the postal system...just so everyone at the USPS knows who I am!
Love this book of Lilly mailing labels, stickers, book labels, and just fun & preppy decals! You can buy the book here.

These labels are great for your books...

Lots of cute Lilly prints are included in the mailing label designs...

Love the colors and prints of these labels...these would be cute on boxes, file folder covers, et cetera...

Cute preppy designs for round stickers...These are great to seal cello goody gift bags, a note card, or to accent a ribbon on a gift package.

Again...more cute preppy stickers...

Just looking at these cute stickers makes me think I need to order another book...NOW!

Square labels...great for jars, paper bag gifts, et cetera...let your imagination roll!

More pink & green label cuteness!

The Lilly labels & stickers coordinate well with colored mailing envelopes

Or with my preppy stationery wardrobe:)

My own "Miss Janice.com" postage stamps are a must...of course, they coordinate with my AshleyBrookeDesigns correspondence cards

When using my "Etiquette With Miss Janice" foldover cards, I also use my magnolia-motif "MissJanice.com" postage stamps...Matchy Matchy!

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope y'all have a fabulous weekend!

You Might be Tacky If...

Using a toothpick...in public. Lord have mercy! Believe or not, I think Southerners are the worst offenders of this etiquette faux pas. Yes, I cannot stand it when I'm entering a restaurant and I pass people on their way out...with a toothpick hanging from the corner of their mouth.

In the South, MOST restaurants have a toothpick dispenser at the cash register...Lord have mercy! My beloved Cracker Barrel has the silver roll-out dispenser right next to the free mints:)

All of us have found ourselves in the situation of either having food stuck in our own teeth, or noticing food in the teeth of others.

Is it okay to let someone know they have food stuck in their teeth? Yes, of course you should tell someone! People deserve to know--wouldn't YOU want to know? It's an awkward and a tricky situation. You should be discreet and sensitive. If you are at the table and you notice your dining partner has food in their teeth, you can either tell them or motion with your fingers by tapping toward your own tooth. Hopefully, they will excuse themselves from the table and handle the situation in the restroom.

Is it ever okay to use a toothpick at the table! It is inappropriate to use a toothpick in public, especially at the table!!!

If you absolutely must use a toothpick or dental floss, excuse yourself from the table and go to the restroom.

Never, evah use your fingers to dislodge food from your teeth. Don't sit at the table swirling your tongue back and forth to try to dislodge food from your teeth either!

It doesn't matter how pretty your clothes look, how great your hairdo is, or how fabulous your figure is, if you are using a toothpick in public...you will look tacky!!!

Y'all have a wonderful day:)

I GET A KICK OUT OF MYSELF!

I am a collector of cute beverage napkins and these pretty much say it all about me!

Yes, sometimes I crack my own self up! Tonight, I'm in my office...tweeting, facebooking, and going through my Wish List Book. It's also my Style File. It contains photos and information about cute loot I want to buy. Every since I've been married, I have always kept a file of stuff I wanted...some of the stuff is extravagant--but it still stays in the book, just in case my husband hits the lottery!

I went to a seminar years ago and the speaker was talking about "getting what you want in life". He said "you must first visualize it"! "Visualize yourself having it and you will get it!" HA! As we all know, that doesn't always work, but I still keep filing photos in my book, just in case.

Here's my Wish List Book. The photos on the cover change from time to time, depending on my little heart's desire!
Inside the binder I also keep a Lilly folder, with estimates, vendor names and contact information.

Fabric samples...

My big project on the horizon will be to get my cottage repainted. This is how it looks now...it's a light green stucco with olive green doors and shutters. I want to paint it a pretty bright yellow with brighter green shutters and doors.

This is a photo of one of my favorite houses nearby. I love the vine which drapes from the top of the porch. This is definitely on my list of things to do! {Y'all, I love this house so much, I ride by it all the time...I go real slow and drool. I have even knocked on their front door once to ask about the name of the vine...it's a variegated bouganvilla. The lady probably thought I was crazy.}

Gonna add some window boxes with pretty red flowers onto the front windows...

If you follow me on Twitter, you know that recently I was fretting because I went out and bought birdseed and no birds showed up for about a week. Well now it's like McDonald's after school lets out...mucho bird feedin' action going on! So I must get some more bird condos...something a little more upscale than they have now!
Don't even ask me why I don't already have a white wicker swing on my front porch...I have no idea why! But, it's on the list:)

This comfy hammock would be pretty on my back porch.

I've been meaning to buy these for my front or my side door...so cute and so Southern!

Mlle. Coco Chanel needs a new bed and this one is just perfect for her...maybe with a cheetah print covered pillow!

Saw these copper molds in a magazine and I search for them all the time.

This is BIG TIME on my list! Want this bad y'all!
Of course, this would be on the front...

Another must-have accessory for the inside of my cute little Beetle...
This is on my SHORT LIST...I hope I get this bike for my birthday...It will match the house color and the VW Beetle color...I told y'all I crack myself up!!! I haven't been on a bike in years, for personal reasons, but I'm ready to try again!
This Nantucket bike basket is a must-have bike accessory...along with a bell! Ding. Ding. Again, I get a kick out of myself and that's all that matters!!!

Now this beautiful sterling tea tipper has been in the book for YEARS! Husband needs to hit the lottery so I can buy this pretty thing...and a pink Chanel pocketbook...and a pink Chanel suit!!!

These Sperry Topsiders are a must-have shoe to the preppy wardrobe. I'm embarrassed to admit I don't have them. You can be sure they are on my short list:)

Do y'all have a Style File or a Wish List Book? If you want cute loot, VISUALIZE IT! Yes ma'am!

Friendship Gifts for the Summer

My "Friendship Gifts" for the Summer are a traditional Southern snack...Peanuts and Coke! Growing up in the South, this was one of my favorites. Any true Southerner knows it's a wonderful treat, although some won't own up to it, 'cuz they think it's kinda trashy!

It must be Real Coke, in the 8 oz. glass bottles. A can Coke or Coke in a plastic bottle just won't do...and no Diet Coke either!!!

The peanuts must be Lance peanuts...roasted and salted.

I found these cute little straw baskets awhile back at Michael's. They are the perfect vessels to hold my Summer "Friendship Gifts".I added some red shred to the baskets and tied my signature gingham ribbon bow onto each one and, voila...an inexpensive, yet fun Summer treat for friends and those who visit me at "The Roost"!

So how does one drink Coke with peanuts? Pour a few of your peanuts into your Coke and munch the nuts while you sip the Coke. Try this in front of Yankees and watch their reaction! They will think you have lost your mind. HA! Let the Summer begin!!!

NATIONAL ICED TEA MONTH

The lazy days of summer are upon us. You might be enjoying sunny days at the beach or the lake or taking in a movie at the theatre. Well, I've been enjoying tall glasses of iced tea, 'cuz...June is National Iced Tea Month.

In 1904, a gentleman by the name of Richard Blechynden was trying to sell his hot tea at the World's Fair in St. Louis and because there was a heat wave, no one was buying any, so he added some ice and iced tea became popular.

Like most Southerners, I began drinking iced tea at a young age. Iced tea is considered the beverage of hospitality, the table wine of the South, and sometimes referred to as the champagne of the South.

Take the heat out of your summer, slow down and join me in sippin' some great iced tea! Today I'm serving Iced Pomegranate Tea from Harney Teas. It's the extra large tea leaves from Ti Quan Yin Oolong tea, infused with tangy pomegranate and is the perfect cold beverage to sip while nibblin' my Taste of Gourmet dips with pita chips and crackers.

"HERE'S WHAT I WORE" The apron is the latest addition to my collection...from The Pink Monogram. It's monogrammed in pink and has the pink polka dot grosgrain ribbon trim at the bottom. *LOVE* it!

The sideboard is set with dips and chips and iced tea....

The tea serving tray...with my monogram on the tea pitcher, from 2PreppyGirls. The goblets are by Lilly...the 'Trouble Hibiscus' pattern. I found mine at PreppyPrincess online.

These cute goblets are must-have for the Southern hostess! They will certainly get a lot of use during 'Merlot Hour'. *LOVE* the pattern:)

The monogram decals from 2PreppyGirls are easy to apply to glassware. Love them!

Love these beverage napkins. One can never have too many cute paper napkins, can one?!

I found these pink & green paper plates at The Hobby Lobby.

Pink & green flowers in a cute, preppy vase....monogram decals from 2PreppyGirls!

I used the Lilly 'Taboo' placecards as ID cards for the dips...

These dip mixes are a staple in my Entertaining Pantry and you can purchase them at my Taste of Gourmet site here.

A cute little chip tray...pink & green-ess cute!

Thank y'all for visiting with me. Chin Chin!!!

You can purchase the Pomegranate Iced Tea here.
