Miss Warner Robins 2016

Last Saturday evening I got my pageant fix!  A new Miss Warner Robins and Miss International City were crowned along with Miss Outstanding Teens for both cities.  The pageant started at 6:30 p.m. and ended at 11:30 p.m.  My husband kept asking, "How long does this last?"  I reminded him that I love watching pageants as much as football!

Tess Hammock, a 21-year old student at the University of Georgia, won the title of Miss Warner Robins 2016.

Caroline Burnette, a 19-year old student at Georgia Southern University, won the title of Miss International City.

Grace Thomas, a 16-year old student at Houston County High won the title of Miss Warner Robins' Outstanding Teen.

Mandolyn Howard won the title of Miss International City's Outstanding Teen.

All four young ladies will go on to compete at the Miss Georgia pageant next June.
Hopefully these ladies follow in the footsteps of recent local winners.

Betty Cantrell, Miss Warner Robins 2015, won the title of Miss Georgia and will compete at the Miss America pageant on September 13.

Two years ago, Olivia McMillan won Miss Warner Robins Outstanding Teen and went onto win the Georgia title and then became Miss America's Outstanding Teen!

I cannot wait for the Miss America Pageant on September 13th.  I'll be back next week with my favorite contestants!

Miss Warner Robins Pageant

A belated congratulations is in order for the winners at the Miss Warner Robins/Miss International City Pageant.  I attended the pageant a couple of weeks ago and can say that it was such a professional event.  The girls were not only beautiful, but talented also!

Here are the new Queens:

Miss International City 2015, Charlene Bibeau and Miss Warner Robins 2015, Betty Cantrell.  Both of them are gorgeous and talented ladies!  They were my favorites to win.

The teen winners...again, beautiful and talented young ladies!  Miss Warner Robins Outstanding Teen 2015, Kelsey Hollis and Miss International City Outstanding Teen 2015, Lelyn Stewart.

"HERE'S WHAT I WORE"  Lilly Pulitzer 'Janice' dress, Ralph Lauren shoes, and Tory Burch clutch.

The emcees for the pageant were two beautiful ladies...Kimberly Hilliard Sharpe, Miss Warner Robins 1989 and her sister Kelli Hilliard, Miss Warner Robins 1991.   {They did an awesome job!} Along with the judges, the emcees received goodies from a local bakery in Warner Robins...Wilson's Bakery.  They talked on and on about how delicious the treats were that they received.  Of course, I had to stop in to check the place out for myself on my way out of town to see my friend Joy in Tybee Island.

Wilson's Bakery is located in an old strip plaza on Watson Boulevard...the main drag in Warner Robins.

They have a variety of goodies to choose from and I took quite some time deciding what to get.

I settled on these to take to Joy's...The doughnuts are covered in chocolate and nuts y'all.  Lord have mercy, we had them for breakfast the next morning and they were delicious!  Wilson's is well-known in Middle Georgia and loved for their finger cookies--the ones on the right-hand side in the box.  They are definitely good too.

Today I'm traveling to my new home in Warner Robins, Georgia.  I'm ready for this new phase in my life and happy to be going back to the land of my birth...the Deep South.  Y'all pray for me...I'm gonna have a hard time resisting Southern cooking on a daily basis.

Miss Georgia Pageant 2014

Carly Mathis, Miss Georgia 2013, will relinquish her crown this Saturday evening in Columbus, Georgia at the Miss Georgia Pageant.  Carly was one of my favorites at the Miss America 2014, where she placed in the top ten.

I've been watching the preliminaries via the live stream from WRBL.  The girls vying for the crown will be judged on fitness, talent, and on-stage questions.  The winner will represent the state at the Miss America Pageant on September 14, 2014 in Atlantic City.  Here are the contestants for Miss Georgia 2014.    See more about the pageant and the contestants on the Miss Georgia Facebook Page.

My favorites are:

Miss Atlanta

Miss Conyers
Miss Georgia Southern
Miss Gwinnett County
Miss Macon

Miss Warner Robins

There are also girls competing for the title of Miss Outstanding Teen Georgia and I just love Olivia McMillan, Miss Warner Robins Outstanding Teen.  She won the preliminary talent contest with her vocal performance. Good luck to her on Saturday night.  The winner of the Miss Outstanding Teen will go on to compete in Orlando on August 2nd for the title of Miss America's Outstanding Teen.

The girls in the pageant have so much talent and poise.  Good luck to all of them!
