Entertaining...Again!!!

A couple of days ago my BFF Teresa Jane called to say that her husband J.D. was coming to our home for a visit before attending a conference in the area. Well, Miss Coco about had a hissy fit this morning! I explained to her that we needed to get her up and dressed, 'cuz more company was coming!!! She looked at me like I was crazy. Between hair appointments and exhausted from being on her best behavior with recent guests, she been prissin' around all day in a tizzy! We finally settled on one of her very casual tee shirts...the Princess!

Now to find something for me to wear! Do y'all ever have one of those days when nothing in your closet is right??? I shop everyday of my life, but today I couldn't find a thing to wear! With Labor Day fast approaching, I decided to wear my pink Ralph Lauren blouse, white Ralph Lauren capris pants, and white Lilly mules...all of which will soon be at the very back of my closet. A comfortable outfit for a very relaxed evening. (That's Puff Kitty in the photo with me today...no outfit for her!)

I wore my white Lilly mules, my pink & green Lilly-fied scrunchie, a silver monogrammed pendant choker with the matching earrings & bracelet, a Chanel charm ring, and my rollring wedding band by Cartier. My fragrance of choice for the evening was 'Wink' by Lilly.
I barely got fresh sheets back on the bed after the previous guest left, prepared tonight's dinner, and the rest of the house in order before the doorbell rang!
Here's the menu...

Summer Supper

Hors d'oeurves
Caribbean Cooler
~~~
Grilled Chicken
Mango Salsa
Mashed Potatoes
Garden Salad
Baguettes
Mango Iced Tea
Tropical Freeze
Tonight's dinner was simple and easy! I served my Signature Beverage and hors d'oeurves from the sideboard in the den...
Caribbean Coolers...pineapple juice, white wine, and lemon juice--with a fresh pineapple wedge, served in palm-motif crystal goblets.
Antipasticks and fruit & chocolate truffel kabobs...
Tommy Bahama cocktail plates...
Palm trees and cheetah print cocktail napkins...
Tres casual setting...
Linen napkins for dinner...
Palm motif crystal tea pitcher, full of the best Mango Tea ever!!!
Crystal tea saucer with monogrammed linen coaster...
Palm motif placecard for J. D.
Bamboo flatware...
Dessert is served...Tropical Freeze--Lime sorbet, pineapple ice cream topping, whipped dessert topping, and a fresh pineapple wedge...
Chocolate chip cookies to-go for J.D. to take with him...
Miss Coco's has had a long day y'all! She's out like a light now...getting her beauty rest for tomorrow. It's her oldest sister's (Miss Pokey) 14th birthday!!!
Thank you for stopping in to visit with me today.
Everything looks wonderful!
I have a question if that's ok....I love having a signature cocktail but I find most of my guests refuse it...this one doesnt like vodka, that one doesnt like juice etc. I hate feeling like I need to drink all of it myself. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you!
Miss Janice, you have so many different serving pieces, crystal, glassware, and such. I would be interested in a future post about how you organize all of those lovely things. Have a super day!
Lovely and inspiring, Miss Janice! I second Leesa's request that at some point you show us how you keep all your entertaining supplies organized--that would be fun to see and helpful, I'm sure!
SP,
I sent you an e-mail regarding the Signature Beverage. To everyone else: I try to remember my guests when serving a SB...nothing too frou frou for men but, frou frou is popular with the ladies! Serving a SB is a risk...but everyone usually loves them!
Miss Janice said...
To all y'all! Maybe I'll do a future post about "Where I store all my tableware!"
Miss Janice said...
Debi,
The mango tea is by Lipton...they are tea sachets and it is such a refreshing tea for the summertime...sugar/lemon is not necessary!
