How Do You Like Your Eggnog--Naughty or Nice?

To celebrate National Eggnog Day, I'm re posting my favorite recipe for the holiday beverage.

After an evening at the Nutcracker, invite friends back to your house for a nightcap. Eggnog is an excellent choice and is an annual Christmas tradition going back to the 1600s. Eggnog is a descendant of a British drink called posset, which contained eggs, milk, and ale. It may be spiked with wine, brandy, or the ever-popular choice of rum.
I always offer nice eggnog (soy nog and nutmeg)--it's actually very tasty and lactose-free, cholesterol-free, and contains no saturated fat. Now, my naughty eggnog is just that--quite naughty, but very popular!

Recipe for Miss Janice's Nice Eggnog:
1 quart Silk Nog (from grocers)
1/4 tsp. nutmeg, plus extra for garnishing
Stir and pour into glasses and garnish with nutmeg.

Recipe for Miss Janice's Naughty Eggnog:
1 quart eggnog (from grocers)
1/2 pint whipping cream
Desired amount of rum--I use one cup--I mentioned it was naughty, right?
1/4 tsp. nutmeg, plus extra for garnishing
Whip eggnog and whipping cream until thick. Add white rum to taste. Stir and pour into glasses and garnish with nutmeg.

Merry Christmas y'all!

Morning Miss Janice! Ha! I love this post - naughy or nice eggnog! But Miss Wonderfulness, I adore those nutcrackers! You must have some collection - they're fabulous! I hurriedly looked at your yesterday's post and I have the same Blue Willow Tea Set - don't you love Blue Willow!? Hope you have a glorious day, my friend.
Be a sweetie,

What a wonderful post. I have not enjoyed egg nog in a very long time. The idea of seeing the Nutcracker and then coming back to company and eggnog sounds wonderful. I may have to try this next year.

Miss Janice, this sounds delicious.

I'm definitely going to try these recipes. The nice would be great for our family Christmas day brunch. One of our grandsons is allergic to dairy, your soy recipe would be perfect.

Thanks!

I think I'll have to pass on this. I love eggnog, but it doesn't return the favor. I always end up with an upset stomach, even if I only drink 3 or 4 ounces. It is just so rich.

So yummy looking, I usually do not drink eggnog, I never had any home made, so I should try your naughty and nice recipe! The glass is so festive with the ribbon and bows. Love your nut crackers. It is so nice, you can have your home already for Christmas and invite guest over. After such a big move.
