I know...Tickled Pink and Green already hosted this giveaway! Well, I didn't win, so I got the book from the author anyway:) Then I realized that 60 people had entered Tickled Pink's giveaway, so there are maybe about 58 of y'all still wanting this book!
Beth Dunn wrote Social Climbers and I have to say that I loved reading this book. I certainly can't give away my copy, 'cuz it's got all my little notes and my underlined reminders of stuff I want and things I better start doing! This is such a cute book about how to climb the Main Line. Beth Dunn takes you inside the world of Main Line society...how the ladies dress, where they shop, their fave cocktails, beauty treatments/supplies, even how they socialize. Although Miss Janice will never be an "It Girl," it's fun to read about their lifestyles, don't y'all think? Now, after reading the book, I realized that I do have some "social climbing tendancies,"...
~I love "W"
~I only use clear lights at Christmas
~My BMW is on the "acceptable vehicle list"
~I tend to think that the world revolves around me...at least I'm being honest!
~I monogram everything
~I name my homes
~I always Rsvp
~I'd love to meet Lee Radziwill
~I always was a "DLG"-Daddy's Little Girl
~I shop at Pierre Deux
~I buy all the "it" magazines
However, I'm apparently out of the loop on a lot of social climbing must do's and never do's:
~Social Climbers only drink Chardonnay and would never drink red wine in public...Oh dear, I'm in bad trouble with this one!
~I'm totally embarrassed to say that I've never heard of Essie nail polish...But, I catch on real quick and it's on my list! After reading the book, I now know the proper nail fashion etiquette!
~I'm still calling "Neiman Marcus," "Neiman Marcus"...who knew?
~I have definitely violated the sunglasses etiquette rule!
~I wear jeans...oh no, I am a loser!
~Finally, I never knew how "out of the fashion loop" I was...I have never heard of Miss Trish of Capri sandals...I know about them now and I want some!
Beth has graciously offered to provide the book for this giveaway...she will autograph it and send the book directly to the lucky winner. Here's the rules y'all:
~For one entry, leave a comment on this post.
~For two entries, make sure you are a follower of my blog.
~For three entries, post about this giveaway on your blog.
~For four entries, make sure you are a follower of Beth's blog.
The deadline to leave comments and enter is Sunday, April 26, 2009 at midnight, E.S.T. The winner will be announced on Monday, April 27, 2009.
If you don't win, don't fret...you can order the book at Beth's website here. Or, if you prefer, it's available on Amazon . Don't forget to visit Beth's blogsite as well.
I'm off to enjoy Beth's "signature drink"...The Pink Lilly. Here's the recipe y'all:
1 - 1/2 cups white rum
2 cups pineapple juice
2 cups grapefruit juice
1 cup chilled club soda
A splash of grenadine to make it pink
A mint sprig
Pour in a wine goblet and rim with pink sugar...yes ma'am, I feel very "chic" drinking this Pink Lilly! {Beth, I even used your wine goblet of choice, by Reidel}.
Note to Beth: Your humor is soooo infectious...I'm now referring to my husband as simply "husband." It's just perfect for me and husband! Yes, I love it!
Thank y'all for dropping by and good luck!

Count me in! That Pink Lilly sounds yummy. I think I need to have a girls day and serve it.
Thanks for including me in the giveaway! Sadly, I will have try to the Pink Lilly in the late fall, after I've produced another heir to the family estate : )
Okay, this is scary! I am a hillbilly girl (now living in Washington DC) and I do ALL of these things.
Who'd a thunk? Okay, I probably broke a major rule right then with that phrase, but that's okay...you can take a girl outta the country, but can never take the country outta the girl!
Hmmm, sign me up for the giveaway - I'd love to read it!
kathie
I've linked your blog to mine? Am I a follower?
Oh I would love to win that book! I have heard so much about it!
I don't know if I am a follower, but your posts show up in my google reader!
I am one of the 58 from Tickled Pink & Green's giveaway for this book. I would love to win it. I am very familiar with the area depicted in the book and think it would be a ton of fun to read!
Thanks for hosting!
I'd love to enter and I'm of course, a loyal follower!!!
Please don't gasp, but I thought I'd share... I only use tacky colored lights at Christmas because they remind me my Granny's tacky tree I loved so much, I can't stand Essie Nail Polish - I'm an OPI gal, and I don't like W... guess I won't be a climber, but I have met Lee Radziwill and can tell you that occasionally, Miss Trish of Capri has done a line for Target. Oh, and I wear jeans - I'm a loser too!
I totally think you're an 'it' girl and I think after my list, there might be hope for all of us! hee hee
This would be a fun read--I'd love to know all the fantastic things that I (inadvertently) do... since I don't think I try very hard to begin with! ;-) Thank you for the giveaway! :)

The book sounds fantastic.
I am a follower of both blog sites.
It was a fun read, wasn't it? I love Beth's snarky humor and comments. Lots of times we were on the same 'wavelength'...And I loved it that she cuts coupons too. I love doing that -- it's like a little game.
Ohhhh, according to your post I need A LOT of help. This book seems like so much fun, please enter me.
I ADORE your new header picture! The colors are so great!
The giveaway book looks like a fun read!
Hugs,
Carol
Oh my, Miss Janice! This book looks just fabulous!!!
Now I just have to know if my sweet Land Rover is on the acceptable vehicle list... Not as smooth a ride as a BMW but I adore my suburban safari truck! ;)
Obviously, I'm a follower of yours and now Ms. Dunns. I will post on my site and then leave you the link.
Thanks for hosting!

I have been wanting to read this book! And now I will have time once I am done with school reading and exams ;) Count me in!
P.S. Essie is the BEST nail polish ever! You will never go back to OPI again. Give East Hampton Cottage or Ballet Slippers colors a try for the perfect Social Climber look.
Oh please count me in....This sounds like something I need... Pat H
I love your blog, Miss Janice. Please enter me, and of course I am already a follower! :)
It sounds like a fun book. You have had some fun posts recently. Wanted to make sure to stay connected and to say hi. Sounds like you are having fun. Hope you have a really nice week!

ooh no, I am so late in entering this, but I have been wanting to read Social Climbers so badly! I follow your blog and Beth's blog :)
Oh I must win!! So fun! I follow both blogs too. I love you drinky plus book photo- so cute.
My google reader said you had selected a winner, but it is not showing up on your blog. Hmm, I am guessing I am too late, but this is a divine giveaway!
Hopsy, I was doing the draft of my post for tomorrow and somehow I hit the enter key and it was published...just the title "Giveaway Winner." I deleted that. One day I'm gonna be mortified if all my drafts are accidently published...they are horrid! (I'm juggling six or seven drafts right now) So, there are still seven minutes left to enter!
Love this, Miss Janice!
Count me in, please!
I am a follower of your blog.
As of now, I am a follower of Beth's.
Thanks
you are a dear to host this great giveaway Miss Janice! please dont' put my name in the hat though, I've already got one and have hosted the same giveaway (forever ago) so this should go to someone else so they can become as obsessed with it as we are!
