It's Sunday Y'all--Church and Lunch

It's Sunday and I spent the morning in church and then lunch at Panera Bread. After lunch I popped into Barnes and Noble 'cuz I don't have enough reading material :) HomeGoods and Michaels were next, then I went over to Dillard's to check out some Lilly items.

"Here's What I Wore" This classic shift is the 'Via Lilly Map Shift', by Lilly and since it's always 32 degrees in church, I carried a white cardigan to wear, by Land's End. If I'm being perfectly honest, I must say that I always carry a sweater when wearing a sleeveless dress/top...there comes an age when your arms need to be covered y'all! That's all I'm gonna say about that.

AND, If you haven't noticed by now, I love the classic shifts by Lilly.
I always choose Lilly shifts with bright and classic patterns and this one is soooo cute...all the streets in Palm Beach. High fallutin'!!!
I wore my white Revas by Tory Burch...closed-toe shoes and stockings for church, of course!!! I carried a little white Bermuda bag and wore a pearl bracelet and pearl earrings and my roll ring wedding band by Cartier. My ponytail was adorned with a white grosgrain ribbon bow and my fragrance of choice for the day was 'Wink' by Lilly.

Ready to go to church! In the heat of the summer--I figure I'm overdressed...some of the ladies wear white polyester slacks *gasp* and sleeveless tops...Lord have mercy!

On to lunch at one my fav spots--Panera Bread!!! Have y'all tried the summer lobster sandwich? It's served on ciabatta bread, with sweet chunks of lobster meat, a bit of romaine lettuce, and a touch of mayo. The full sandwich is a whopping $16.99. However, I always order the 'Pick Two' and the step-up cost for the 'Pick Two' with the lobster sandwich brings the total to $15.00. I enjoyed the 1/2 lobster sandwich, cup of cheddar broccoli soup, and Panera Bread chips...love the chips, which are crispy but not greasy and cooked in sunflower oil.
My 'proper Panera setting'...napkin on the left, the fork to the left of the plate will be used to eat any sandwich filling bits that fall out, soup spoon on the plate--never left in the bowl. The sandwich bread is thick; however, I still practice the 'three-finger rule' and hold the sandwich with both hands, using the thumb, index, & middle fingers of each hand. :)

The whole sandwich is 810 calories...405 calories for the 1/2. :) If you like lobster, give this sandwich a try. This special summer treat will only be served until Labor Day!!

Oh, I do hope y'all have a wonderful week! Thank you so much for stopping by to visit with me.

Millionaire's Row

The other day I was minding my own business, and tweetin' away on Twitter. Up pops a tweet from Lynn Whelan who has an Etsy store LWhelanDesigns. She's tweetin' about these new bottle covers that she made and attached a 'twitpic' to her tweet. Here's what she made!!! I liketa died when I saw it! How cute is this bottle cover??? She used the Lilly 'Millionaire's Row' fabric to make it and embellished it with lime green petite pom fringe. The reverse side is pink and white dots!!! Of course, I simply had to have it 'cuz I have the perfect outfit to coordinate with it!

Love this little bottle cover!!!

So, I asked to if she could make a bandanna using the same fabric for Mlle. Coco Chanel and here's what she made y'all! She used the Lilly 'Millionaire's Row' fabric and added the pink polka dot trim. I totally love it! (Sorry , I grabbed the photo from Lynn's site and it is so petite.)
Miss Coco is modeling her new bandanna...she says "Merci Beaucoup, Miss Lynn!"

So I'm off to the movies and Miss Coco is off to the beauty shop. "HERE'S WHAT WE'RE WEARING." The denim jacket by Molly B has the polka dot trim to coordinate with Miss Coco's polka dots. I'm wearing a white tee from Target and a pair of capris in the 'Millionaire's Row' print by Lilly.
My pink mules are by Lilly and my ponytail will adorned with a hot pink grosgrain ribbon bow. My jewelry...'Oyster Perpetual' watch by Rolex, rollring wedding band by Cartier, silver monogrammed earrings and ring, and a silver monogrammed choker necklace. My lipstick is 'Laser Pink' by Chanel and my fragrance of choice is 'Wink' by Lilly. Of course I will have my water bottle with the precious LWhelanDesigns bottle wrap and Miss Coco will wear her 'Millionaire's Row' bandanna.

Acting like a couple of Millionaires!!! We are ready for some fun today!

Miss Coco loves to be pampered, just like her mama!
I hope y'all have a wonderful day and thank you for visiting with me.

A SUMMERTIME FAVORITE IN THE SOUTH!

I'm enjoying a quiet day...it's early in the evening and I'm out on the Porch at "The Roost"
--the perfect time of the day here in South Florida. The sun is going down and it's just about as cool as it's gonna get. So I'm having a fresh tomato sandwich, sippin' some Arnold Palmer Iced Tea (1/2 iced tea and 1/2 lemonade), and checking out this new book I received as a gift.

No chips, no salad, nothing but the fabulous tomato sandwich!

By BFF sent me this book by Kelly Cutrone, "If You Have To Cry Go Outside"...Hmmm, she said I need to read it 'cuz it might help me be more agressive. okay. Now y'all, just because I'm an etiquette consultant, that doesn't mean I'm a pushover! So, I thought I was agressive. Guess not:) Miss Teresa Jane, I'm reading.

Thank you for visiting with me this evening. I hope y'all are staying cool!

I hope all y'all had a fab holiday weekend! I sure did--our friends Mark and Jan came over from Tampa and I hated to see them leave today! Just hated it:(

But, this photo I received from Ashley at SweetSouthernPrep sure makes me smile:) Love the pretty blue and yellow Lilly dress she's wearing and her oldest little girl is always wearing Lilly. This is a photo of them before leaving for church. How precious are they both????

Miss Ashley lives in North Carolina with her husband and two precious little girls and she has a darlin' blog, SweetSouthernPrep. I must tell y'all about a fab giveway she's hosting with LWhelanDesigns. Look at this gorgeous apron--yes, if you rush over there and enter, you just might be the lucky winner! The deadline of July 11th is fast approching! Go here to enter the giveway.

LynnWhelanDesigns creates the cutest stuff y'all. I purchased one of her darlin' aprons awhile back and love it and I just received a package from her on Saturday and squealed when I opened it!!! Stayed tune to see some absolutely precious things Lynn is creating for my Yorkie Miss Coco:)

What's Mlle. Coco Chanel Wearing on the 4th of July???

Mlle. Coco Chanel says "Happy 4th of July y'all!!! "Here's What Coco's Wearing"...

A darlin' patriotic doggie dress, with an ivory satin bow...do you love it??? I can't help it...she's just too cute!

"HERE'S WHAT I'M WEARING"... An aqua capris set I purchased in a little boutique in Palm Springs--many years ago. I still love it!

Great summer print...

Love the ric rac...

I'm wearing aqua slide pumps and carrying my Billie Ross of the Palm Beaches pocketbook. I'm wearing my Chanel silver earrings and Chanel ring, my 'Return to Tiffany' bracelet by Tiffany, my 'Oyster Perpetual' watch by Rolex, and my roll ring wedding band by Cartier. My ponytail will be adorned with a white grosgrain ribbon bow and I'll be wearing my sunglasses by Chanel. The fragrance choice for the day is 'Wink' by Lilly.

We are spending the weekend here in Port St. Lucie with our longtime friends Jan and Mark Taylor. If you have been following my blog for a while, you know that my friend Jan is battling liver cancer. We are happy that her scans are showing that the tumors are shrinking!!! YAY!!!

Since I'm relaxing with them this weekend, I'm re-posting my 4th of July post from last year...A party I hosted on the porch, here at "The Roost."

My front porch is a great area for entertaining--very laid back and relaxing--perfect for a casual patriotic dinner celebration! I used a combination of red, white, and blue tableware to bring together the patriotic look. This was a seated, informal meal, served plated-style.

The menu consisted of: Cocktails, boiled peanuts, honey mustard hot wings, Memphis-style barbecue sandwiches*, savory baked beans**, Southern-style potato salad, iced tea, watermelon, and festive cupcakes.

I surrounded the chrysanthemum centerpiece with the patriotic figures, which were purchased at TJ Maxx last summer. The buckets, containing sand and the sparklers, were found at Target in the $1-ish section.

Cocktails are now being served y'all...
The patriotic plates and the red rattan chargers were purchased at Hobby Lobby last summer. The white melamine plates were purchased at World Market. I've had this white flatware for years and just hot glued the patriotic stars onto the handles for a festive look.
The iced tea mason jar-style mugs were purchased at Cracker Barrel.
The iced tea dispenser was purchased at Dillard's a while back.
The patriotic napkins and napkin rings were purchased at Dillard's...a while back.
Boiled peanuts...now y'all know I have to serve boiled peanuts in the summertime!
Watermelon...you simply must have watermelon during the summer!
Festive cupcakes...These are the Martha Stewart cupcake cups & flags--love them!

*Recipe for Memphis-Style Barbecue Sandwiches
Born and raised in the deep South, I like to think I'm a connoisseur of barbecue. I have always compared any barbecue with Sconyers Bar-B-Que in Augusta, Georgia--the world's best barbecue--in Miss Janice's opinion! (If you ever visit Augusta, you simply have to go to Sconyer's)

Many years ago when I first moved to DeSoto County, Mississippi (a small community just south of Memphis, Tennessee), I ordered a barbecue sandwich in a barbecue restaurant. I was asked if I wanted cole slaw and I said "Yes." Well, that's when I found out that cole slaw is served on the sandwich--Memphis-style, and not on the side. Try it y'all...you will love it. So the recipe is...

Pulled pork, cole slaw, and barbecue sauce all served on a hamburger bun...barbecue sandwiches, served Memphis-style.

**Recipe for Mary Gibson's Savory Baked Beans
1 16 oz. can pork and beans
2 tblsp. brown sugar
1/4 tsp. dry mustard
1/4 cup catchup
2 slices bacon, cut in 1" pieces
Combine ingredients. Bake uncovered in a greased cassserole at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Uncover and continue baking for 20 minutes.

Baked beans...I can't make 'em pretty, but I can make 'em good!
Southern-style potato salad...

Floridians love Hurricane Wings--honey mustard flavor! Husband loves these:)

Don't forget your party favors y'all! Since July 5th is "Cracker Jack Day," I did my patriotic duty and gave America's favorite snack--Cracker Jacks as party favors. The boxes were wrapped in cello with red, white, and blue shred and tied up with festive garland and a patriotic gift tag...Cracker Jacks, an American favorite for over 100 years!
Leftovers...Like Mama always said, "Now y'all come in here and take some of this food home with you"! You can put some leftover food in a tupperware container, on a paper plate covered with aluminum foil, or you can wrap it up to go in style. Take it home y'all...
Take-home box embellished with red gingham ribbon and a summertime gift tag...

"Here's What I Wore Last Year"...VERY casual day--a white polo shirt and madras capris from TJ Maxx.
A few accessories...Navy Polo flip flops, a navy cap monogrammed in white, and a white grosgrain ribbon adorning my ponytail. I wore my Cartier roll ring wedding band and gold button earrings, and a quick spritz of Lilly 'Wink'.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope y'all have a great 4th of July weekend.

Julie is Lilly

Whoa! These hot summer days are making me very lazy!!! All I want to do is sit around with a glass of ice tea and read all y'all's blogs!!!

I'm getting ready for a fun 4th of July weekend...good food, the beach, the pool, and good friends.

I wanted to show y'all a couple of photos that just say "Summertime." Julie at BrownEyedBelleJulie sent me these precious pictures. She recently attended her cousin's wedding in Mrytle Beach, South Carolina. This darlin' dress in the 'Shorely Blue Silver Dollars' print by Lilly is perfect for a beach wedding...comfy, stylish, and a classic look. Julie accessorized the dress with white sandals, yellow shell-motif earrings, and a Kate Spade straw clutch pocketbook.

In the ocean...at Myrtle Beach!!!
Thank you Julie for sharing these photos with us! You look adorable!!!

Thanks to all y'all for stopping by today. If you would like to have your photo dressed in Lilly featured on my blog, e-mail them to me at Miss Janice {at} Miss Janice {dot} com.
