Getting my Autumn Act Together!

This morning, I've been taking out Autumn and Halloween decos...organizing everything and planning the decos I want to add this year.  Lord have mercy, I now have just as many Autumn/Halloween/Thanksgiving decos as I do for Christmas so I'm only adding a few new pieces this year--all my decos are taking over the garage.

Love this magazine out on the new stands now by Phyllis Hoffman.  Great photos and ideas to get you excited for the season!

My Doctor told me last week that I should gain 5 lbs.  Well my land, I've certainly never been told that!  Since I've been on the "Clean Living" diet during the summer, I lost about 10-12 lbs and for my frame and height, that's probably a bit much.  Okay.  Working on that weight gain today with a scone and some of  my Apple Butter.

LOVE this apple butter for a spread on scones, biscuits, or toast.

Miss Janice's Etiquette Tip:  Remember that jellies or creams should spooned onto the plate not onto the scone.  Then use a spreader and add the jelly to only the portion of scone that you are putting into your mouth.

You can find the recipe for "Miss Janice's Apple Butter" here.

I'm sippin' some Apple Cinnamon tea from Harney Tea...the perfect flavor to enjoy with my scone and apple butter treat!

Don't y'all just love Autumn?  When I'm done inside the house, I'm gonna plant some Autumn flowers in the garden area.  Y'all have a great day!

  1. Miss Janice,
I love your blog but use the old format. The new one is TOO BUSY and distracts the eye. Go back to the previous format. Easier to read. not distracting.

  2. Celebrate is by far my favorite and go-to publication, I just love it! I get such wonderful ideas from it. I am getting my fall decor out this week as well. It really does start to accumulate!

  3. Miss Janice, do you still make monthly gifts to give your friends? Just curious. Haven't seen you blog about that lately. How do you give them out? Just when someone drops in for a visit or your same friends get a little happy every month?

  6. Dear Laura,

I didn't have any "Friendship Gifts" during the late spring and summer because I was very busy with my Mama...having her here in Florida and staying with her in Georgia.

I'm working on my Autumn "Friendship Gifts" this week and will post a photo on the blog sometime next week. I usually give them to guests visiting my home and sometimes take them to friends/relatives as a "Happy!"

    Regards,
    Miss Janice

  7. I love Autumn too! Next week I will be sharing an apple unit with the kinderGators. And tonight I am planning our field trip to the best fruit farm around! They do wonderful lessons with the children in the apple orchard, hayride out to the pumpkin patch, as well as a fantastic lesson on bees and honey! And you bet good old Mrs. Kindergarten will be sporting her pink and green pumpkin bib-overalls! Love it! Can't wait to see all your decos!!

    Love and Hugs,
    Mrs. Kindergarten...aka...Madame Spoiled

  9. Autumn and spring are my favorite seasons. I love all publications from Southern Lady. I haven't seen this issue yet, but I will have to seek it out. Last night when I went outside, I noticed that it was actually very nice. It was much cooler and no humidity here in Central Fla. It was lovely!! It always makes me very happy when I can throw open the doors to my lanai and get some fresh cool air in my home. That time is getting near!!
