I shall reflect back on the past year--thinking about what I did wrong and how to change that and what I got right and how to keep that going!
It's fun looking forward to the new year isn't it? This year, I decided to write down my goals for 2011...not resolutions--just personal goals I want to accomplish, places I want to visit, and of course, there are several goodies I want to buy!!! If you follow me on Twitter here, you can read "Miss Janice's Goals for 2011."
New Year's Gifts
Even though I'm staying home and not hosting a party this year or attending one...here's a photo of a gift I packaged for guests a couple of years ago. I used a four-pack box and filled it with a split of champagne, two inexpensive champagne goblets, some party horns, black shred, and my signature gingham ribbon.
Get Your Party Favors Y'all!
This is my favorite New Year's party favor of all time!!! It's a can of the Southern favorite New Year's Day food--Black Eyed Peas...wrapped in cello and adorned with a party blower! Remember, for every pea you eat, that's a dollar you'll earn in the new year! {That's what Mama said!!!}
It's Time for a Blog Break Y'all!
Please excuse me while I take a break from blogging for a short while. I need to do some computer maintenance, some work around the house, and possibly get a new blog design! {Speaking of blog design...does anyone know why my right margin has dropped down below the last post on this page?}
Before I close for my break, I want to thank all my readers for your precious comments on the blog. Y'all are so sweet! You may certainly still e-mail me with your questions and also follow me on Twitter at SocialGraces101...I'll still be tweeting "What I'm Wearing," et cetera.
Happy New Year to all y'all! I hope that you reach the goals you set and that you have a prosperous, healthy, and happy New Year!
Don't forget to open up the front door of your home at midnight to let the old year out and the new year in...it's a Southern thing y'all!
Chin Chin!
Miss Janice
Enjoy your blog break dear lady, we all need one every once in awhile!
ReplyDeleteI will definitely open my door at midnight (had never heard of that before) and think of you while I am doing so!
Wishing you all the very best for 2011!
xoxo
I'm watching Anderson and Kathy, while reading blogs, drinking cocoa and cuddling in bed with the dog. Exactly the way I love to spend NYE. Cozy and avoiding crazy drunk folks.
ReplyDeleteCheers to a fabulous New Year!

Hope you have a Happy New Year. You are so creative and always have the best gifts!

Happy New Year!! I'm watching NBC from Times Square with Bo at my feet. Enjoy your blogging break. We are going to miss you. I peeked at your goals. I need the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI pray that 2011 brings you many blessings!! Happy New Year, Friend! Much Love, Daphne
ReplyDeleteOMGosh!! I chuckled when I saw your comment about opening the front door at midnight. I have always done the same thing. This year my daughter got to open the door. I had totally forgotten to mention it to my friends, so I swiped it and put it on my FB status. I'll miss your blogging but I know you have been a busy bee this past year. You deserve a break!

Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThat's actually been done in Scotland since ancient times...but since so many Scots were banished and came to north American via the islands it makes sense that so many of their traditions would be alive in the south. Did you know the Scots were jumping the broom long before we knew what a Jamaica is?
My husband will be popular today as he will be needed to first foot lots of houses!
Happy Happy New Year Dear Miss Janice! I just adore your blog and wish you a very restful and productive blog break, but would be dishonest if I wished it to be a LONG break. You will be missed!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Mrs. Kindergarten
I could not agree more about New Year's Eve...eeewwwww! hahaha
Happy New Year, Miss Janice!

Happy New Year Miss Janice! I hope you accomplish a lot on your blogging break. I just started to follow you on twitter so I can keep up with your goings on. Love following your blog! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Miss Cuteness! Look at your header filled with you - just darling! Here's to another wonderful year of blogging.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
You are adorable! Happy New Year, Miss Janice! I have heard that eating black-eyed peas on New Year's Day brings good luck, but never heard that about dollars. Love your..."That's what Mama always said!"
ReplyDeleteThank your for always showing all of us how to be a little more gracious. We all need that!
XO, Cheryl
I so enjoy your blog and will dearly miss your blog during your blog break. Wishing you a Very Blessed 2011!!
ReplyDeleteI so enjoy your blog and will dearly miss your blog during your blog break. Wishing you a Very Blessed 2011!!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Miss Janice!! If I ever get through posting about Christmas, I'll be taking a break, too ~ gotta put up Christmas sometime! Oh what fun we have in the South!! My door is always opened at 12:00 for the New Year to blow away the remains of the Old Year. Funny, but somehow that makes me sleep more peaceful that night. Enjoy your much-needed break. Look forward to all the great things to come from you!
ReplyDeleteLoved reading your 2011 resolution tweets! Have a wonderful break and even better new year!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Miss Janice! I wish you the best...
ReplyDeleteLove the aprons. I like a quiet New Year's party too. Just a few friends at my house and everyone goes home early so we can ring in the new year in our pjs.
ReplyDeleteYou do goals too? I've always prefered the fine distinction of a goal over a resolution. :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your break. I look forward to your return!
That is so weird with your bar at the bottom of your post. Wish I had and answer for you. Happy New Year, never heard the opening the front door thing, but love the black eyed pea favor, so cute!
ReplyDeleteHave a great blog break!
ReplyDeleteI brought my New Year's Eve hostess a cutely wrapped can of black-eyed peas but it was hilarious becuase she did not know that they brought you good luck at the New Year! I had to explain the meaning so she did not think that I brought her a can of food.
I wish you all the best for 2011, Miss Janice... take a nice relaxing break and I can't wait to see you back! :) Love, Candy
ReplyDeleteGREAT picture. Buh-bye!
ReplyDeleteLove the monogram apron!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Cathy
I took a little holiday break myself, Miss Janice but I wanted to swing by and wish you a belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the break Miss Janice.Hope it will be a real refresher for you.
ReplyDeleteYou look so nice in your new header!
The side bar is dropped down because something in your main blog area is too large. Usually it is a photo that is not sized down enough.
Enjoy your break!!
ReplyDeleteI'm coming to FB to give you some love:)
Happy Day Friend,
xo
Best wishes in the new year Miss Janice. Looking forward to seeing your changes for 2011.
