Mother's Day Brunch

It's Tablescape Thursday and Susan at Between Naps on the Porch is once again hosting this awesome event. Susan is definitely the "Tablescape Queen," so stop in and check out her beautiful blog and all the tablescapes linked to this event!

Today, I'm featuring a Mother's Day Brunch tablescape. This Mother's Day, I will not be able to travel home to Georgia to visit my mama. However, she will be celebrating this special day with my brother.

Mothers are the most important people in the world. If you are lucky enough to still have your mama, please honor her everyday and make this Mother's Day special for her. In the South, ladies judge a gentleman by the way he treats his mama. I can tell you that my brother loves and respects our mama and treats her like she's the Queen. He's always driving Miss Pauline all over the place (to church on Sundays, to the beauty shop for her standing appointment every Friday morning, shopping, etc.--mama loves to scoot)!

A sweet Southern tradition on Mother's Day in the South...ladies are given a red corsage if their mama is still alive and a white corsage if their mama has passed away.

Today's feature is a Brunch that I had last year for my mama at my home in Mississippi.

Mother's Day Brunch Tablescape...Brunch egg casserole*, fresh mixed fruit, Southern-style biscuits, orange juice, and coffee.

Mother's Day Brunch Place Setting--The china is Accoutrements, designed by Anna Griffin for Lenox. The napkin rings are monogrammed, of course, and a silver tray is used as a charger plate .

Brunch Egg Casserole...

*Recipe for Brunch Egg Casserole
4 cups seasoned croutons
2 cups grated cheddar cheese
8 eggs, slightly beaten
4 cups milk
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
8 slices bulk sausage, cooked, drained, and crumbled

Combine croutons and cheese and place into a greased 3-quart baking dish. Combine eggs, milk, salt, and pepper; mix until well blended and pour over the crouton mixture. Sprinkle crumbled sausage on top. Bake at 325 degrees for one hour. Serves 8-12.

I hope that y'all have a wonderful Mother's Day!

Youth fades; love droops; the leaves of friendship fall; A mother's secret hope outlives them all.

  10. Hi Miss Janice! Your table is gorgeous! I love those plates! The silver trays make beautiful chargers. Your egg casserole sounds yummy! I don't think I've seen that one before. I will have to try it! Yes, I remember getting the red or white flowers at our old church in south Georgia. The church ladies would cut them out of their gardens! Have a wonderful weekend...hugs...Debbie

  18. How divine! I love the table setting, berries in the bowl! The casserole, I love to make them for brunch! I need to find my recipe and see if its near yours. Think Hubby can cook it? lol I up for it! I just too happy! All the food! I been catching up love the napkin of you! So adorable!!! The mint juleps! Yes very Southern! The post about May Day, brought back so many memories! I loved the post so much! Going out today, with a friend from Alabama, she came to kidnap me yesterday. I was so tired from two days gone, one for sheep, one for Doc and 2 hours away to thrift shop and the pawn shop where Hubby bought something, and I got two tables. I found a tea table I am in love with, but not sure where I shall put it so I am thinking on it. lol Go back there sometimes this week, Hubby wants to go to Philadelphia, to Williamsville. I plan to hit the stores I love! I doing much better and Doc gave me 2 months and 3 days now of freedom. He said I need to heal more from my accident, before surgery! Yeah I on the move! lol I have lots planned. Love you table! I love how you talked about a southern gentleman and the corsage. Now I had a florist, and I just forgotten about the colors! My Mother died in 1991. I miss buying her something on Mother's Day! I off to shopping! Happy Mother's Day.

  23. This is a beautiful, beautiful table..
My deep East Texas mama would have loved this table, too...she was about the most Southern lady I ever met. Her slow East Texas drawl stays with me today, even tho she has been gone over 20 years.
We always did the red rose or white flowers at EASTER out here.
