Cute Loot Booth

So now I have a booth at a local vintage store...Miss Janice's Cute Loot.  Well, it's not really a booth.  It's a closet and a porch.  This is a place where I offer new and gently-used Lilly Pulitzer.  I also offer some aprons (in excellent condition) from my "Prissy Apron Collection," some holiday themed aprons and brand new Lilly Pulitzer fabric aprons.

Of course I had to priss-up the space with pink and green...some of my favorite Lilly prints adorn the walls.

I also offer hostess gifts for sale.

Just some stuff from the house....

Love these little pillows...I'm on a pom pom kick y'all!

Lilly Pulitzer pillows, accessories, and shifts!

If you are in the Macon/Warner Robins, Georgia area, stop in a take a peek!  I am space #135 at Vintage Junktion, 1736 Watson Boulevard, Warner Robins, Georgia.  I frequently post items added to the booth on my Instagram page.  If you see something you want, call Dana or Karen (the owners) at 478.302.5005.  They will be happy to help you!

James Farmer, Southern Gentleman

Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending a luncheon in Perry, Georgia featuring James Farmer as the Speaker.  James is a professional gardener, floral and interior designer, cook, and lifestyle expert.  He is the author of several books which I have written about on this blog.  He is also an editor-at-large for Southern Living Magazine.

James kept all the ladies laughing out loud and nodding their heads in agreement with all his Southern stories...memories of times growing up in the South...reminding us all of times with our mamas, sisters, and Southern lady friends!

The dining room of the Houston Lake Country Club was decorated with a garden theme...

Mimosas and Bloody Marys were served...

Each table featured a garden-style centerpiece...

As expected, the food was delicious!

Since I already have all of James' books, I pre-ordered his new book "A Time to Celebrate."  It will be out in September and will feature recipes, entertaining, and Southern stories.  James can set a pretty table y'all!

I wore my Lilly Pulitzer 'Ten Ton Bouquet' shift with orange Revas, a bee-charmed Bosom Buddy Bag, and a darling pearl necklace with a bee charm, by B The Collection.

Miss USA 2015

Congratulations to Olivia Jordan, the new Miss USA 2015.  She nailed the On Stage Question:

Judge Brook Lee, a former Miss USA/Miss Universe, asked Jordan what she thought the next hot-button issue was in the US that needed to be tackled on a national level.
"I think we still need to talk about race relations in this country," Jordan said. "We have not solved this issue. We are still having problems. We keep hearing about new issues coming up. We really need to work on being an accepting society and being a society where every single person, no matter your race, no matter your gender, is given the same rights and privileges and opportunities."

She definitely rocked the swimsuit competition.

And she took home the crown wearing a beautiful hot pink Sherri Hill gown!

Can't wait to see her compete at Miss Universe!

Is Voice Mail a Thing of the Past?

I'm wondering if voice mail is a thing of the past...like the cute pink Princess telephone?  The other day I placed a call to someone and it went to voice mail.  I left my message and waited on the person to return my call.  Well, she called me back and said "What's up?"  I replied "Didn't you listen to the message I left you?"  She said "No."

What?  Has this happened to y'all?  Instead of listening to messages left on voice mail, is it now a thing to just return the call?  I'm not comfortable leaving messages...especially on a business call.  It's even more ridiculous that a lot of businesses have voice mails that say "Your call is very important to us..." but then they take DAYS to return your call.

So, is texting the new voice mail.  A quick text does get right to the point, but leaving a voice mail allows you to be expressive.  Is voice mail a thing of the past?  Do you even bother to leave voice mails anymore?
