Fourth Sunday of Advent

It is the fourth Sunday of Advent and the purple Angel's candle is lit. This week of Advent is the week of Love.

"But the Angel said unto them, do not be afraid. Behold I bring unto you good tidings of great joy!" ~Luke 2:10
Day #15 of my Christmas Season 2011 Bucket List...

Sunday night, Mama and I watched a movie...popcorn and diet caffeine-free coke was a must!
"It's a Wonderful Life" is always one of my favorite movies to watch during the Christmas season!
Day #16 Mama and I started off the day with a light breakfast...This is the table setting for her kitchen table. The dinnerware is 'O'Tannebaum' from Macy's...purchased many years ago.
Red velvet doughnuts from Krispy Kreme and The Fresh Market's 'Christmas Blend' coffee hit the spot before a day of shopping at the local "tacky mall". {If you follow me on Twitter, you know that I always affectionately refer to a mall without a Saks or Neiman's as tacky! In fact, I probably use the word "tacky" a million times everyday!
The Red Velvet doughnuts from Krispy Kreme as sooooo good y'all! However, the "Hot Now" light must be on before I will enter the place!!!
Day #17...I wore a red turtleneck and some tacky jingle bell earrings and my "Get Even, Give Fruitcake" badge!
After lunch, I fixed Mama some of her favorite fruitcake and coffee...This is the tablesetting at her dining table...The china pattern is 'Cranberry Hill', from J C Penney.

Mama LOVES fruitcake, but of course, it has to be Claxton Fruitcake. I'm sorry y'all, this stuff is just gross.

Day #18...Wednesday morning I fixed Mama some biscuits and served them with my Apple Butter and hot tea.

Etiquette tip: Remember to serve jellies and sauces on the side. Tear off the piece of biscuit that will go into your mouth and spoon some of the jelly onto the biscuit.

Mama's breakfast bar...set with dinnerware and teaware in the 'Plaid Tidings' pattern from The Cracker Barrel.
Mama's sweet breakfast china...
Day #19...My little Pepi picked out this outfit for me to wear around town...running errands, shopping, and getting even more into the Christmas spirit. {Even while wearing a tacky Christmas sweater}!
Day #20...Little Pepi and I had some Peppermint Ice Cream...I'm obsessed with peppermint everything right now!
Day #21...I wore my new little gingerbread apron...serving Candy Cane tea and made some gingerbread pancakes! 'Tis the Season to eat, eat, eat!!!
Thank you for visiting with me today! Ho Ho Ho y'all!!!

Miss Janice,
I grew up in Claxton, and no one in town eats the stuff either. I have a recipe from the Parker family, who started Claxton Fruitcake, where you freeze it, cut it into thin slices, and dip in chocolate. It is much more edible that way. Your Mama would probably love it!

Merry Christmas!

I don't know how you stay so trim. Must be the aerobic activity of setting and resetting the table items. You crack me up Miss Fruitcake!

My MIL's maiden name is Claxton...she ocassionally gets asked if she is of the fruitcake company. I think that's quite fitting ;o)

Oh, Miss Janice, you are a wonderful daughter and I'm sure you've just made your little mother's week! You are a hoot!
Well, I guess I'm tacky, I do kinda like fruit cake, if it's not too gooey! :)
Now you never disappoint - look how cute you are in that darling little apron! Merry Christmas, my sweet prissy little friend! :) I'm a hoot too! :

So funny. Claxton Fruitcake is a joke in our home. My dear 81 year old mother loves fruitcake and is, in fact giving them as gifts this year. She ordered them and had them delivered BEFORE I could voice my opinion. haha

Love your blog!

I love fruitcake. I like the Claxton dark fruitcake, but it is only available (or was) when you get the three pack. I'm not crazy about the light. I like Benson's fruitcakes. They are already sliced. May have to head to Cracker Barrel to get me a Benson's fruitcake.

I am so very glad that people appreciate how wonderful you are Miss Janice! It makes my day when you have a new post! I have spent the day wrappin' my brains out! ALL is finished! Whew! Dinner was fabulous on a set of our Christmas dishes as well. Now I am on to lesson plans for the week after vacation. I need to finish the art~work of detailing my KinderGator fingerprints into reindeer ornies for their gifties to parents! It is the MOST wonderful time and MOST busy as well!

Love and Hugs,

I like fruitcake too. I think it's because Mama always made fruitcake from scratch when I was little. And yesterday, I was trying to explain to my 9 year old daughter what the word "tacky" meant.

It's very precious and pretty all in one Miss Janice. I really like your lime green vignette display. The red velvet donuts sound delish. I'll have to give them a try this week.

Yay! I have been meaning to get back by here and see if I could view your blog again? For the longest time I thought you had stopped blogging since I kept getting a blank screen. Now I see it all but the right side is way down at the bottom of the page. I'm back following you here and have added you to my blogroll. I follow you on Pinterest and FB as well so I am covered with one of my favorite friends. Whew! I'm glad you added me as well. Thank you for your kind visit.

Have a Merry Christmas and a very blessed New Year! ~Melissa :)
