Just Another Prissy Miss Janice Day!

Lunch, movie, and shopping like I'm some kinda socialite! I had a very busy and fun day today. I carried my Lilly 'Bloomers' notebook...

To Do's, Shopping Lists, and coupons!

After a quick lunch and trip to Starbuck's, I was off to see "The Help." Lord have mercy I LOVED this movie and the book and can't stop thinking about it all...each character who represents someone from my childhood growing up in the South. I fell in love with Skeeter, Minny, Aibileen, and especially little Mae Mobley. Awesome y'all. Just awesome!

I loved the home decor from the 60's, the hair do's, and of course, the clothes. Here's the girls at Bridge Club.

LOVED the maids--Minny and Aibileen!!! Loved 'em!

Celia Foote...loved the part she played so well.

Miss Eugenia "Skeeter" Phelan and her mama, Mrs. Charlotte Boudreau Cantrelle Phelan...with the Shinalator for Skeeter's curly hair. I totally need one y'all!

After the movie, I was off to the newly opened Hobby Lobby--so excited that our town now has a Hobby Lobby. Of course, I shopped till I dropped...finding a lot of cute new loot for Autumn.

"HERE'S WHAT I WORE" The skirt is the 'Taboo' pattern by Lilly and the white tee is from Target. Even though it was about 95 degrees in the shade today, I carried my J Crew 'Jackie' green cardigan to wear inside the freezing cold theater.
My accessories: Pink & green Jack Rogers, gold monogrammed choker and matching earrings, Cartier roll ring wedding band, 'Oyster Perpetual' Rolex watch, pink grosgrain ponytail bow, Chanel sunglasses, Lilly 'Later Gator' croakies, lime green iPhone cover, Essie 'Lovie Dovie' nail polish, Chanel 'Laser Pink' lipstick, and Lilly 'Wink' cologne and body lotion.

I carried my pink 'Le Pliage' pocketbook by Longchamp.

After seeing the help today, I can say that I'm totally obsessed with sweater guard clips now. Great. Just great. Another obsession!
I will close with a few of my favorite lines from the movie and the book:

~"I can't believe Johnny married a girl so tacky like she is!"

~"Today, I'm trying to explain to her the difference between dipping and polishing the silver, how only the tacky houses do the dip cause it's faster, but it don't look good."

~"I wash her hair every Friday. I never seen that woman wash her own hair. If I die before her, I don't know what Miss Sissy gone do about getting her hair washed."

~"She's (Celia) wearing a tight red sweater and a red skirt and enough makeup to scare a hooker!"

~"Miss Leefolt sigh, hang up the phone like she just don't know how her brain gone operate without Miss Hilly coming over to push the Think button."

~"You got nothing left here but enemies in the Junior League and a Mama that's gone drive you to drink. You done burned every bridge there is. And you ain't never gonna get another boyfriend in this town and everybody know it. So don't walk your white butt to New York, run it."

~"I rolled 13 curlers in her hair every night at the Chi Omega house at Ole Miss, but today she threatened to throw me out of the Junior League."

~Mrs. Charlotte Phelan's Guide to Husband-Huntin, Rule #1: A pretty petite girl should
accentuate with makeup and good posture, a tall plain one with a trust fund."

Thank you for stopping by for a visit!!!

Should I read the book or see the movie first? I liked the last quote the best... money never hurts.

You always look so put together. I must have missed seeing you on the days you don't leave the house.

What do you wear to straighten up the house? I know you must have a Lily apron...

Ohhhh...ok! Sweater clips. I thought that might be what you meant (on twitter yesterday).

I have a whole collection of them! The good ones are getting hard to find, though. If I find one you might like, I'll pick it up for you!

Those clothes in The Help--omgoodness! I was just in heaven. Celia Foote is just a riot. I love her.

OH! Now I know about sweater pins. And, yes, I adore them too! The older the better. I haven't seen The Help yet, but plan to soon. I read the book twice! :)

Miss Janice,

I'm glad to hear you loved the movie. I am so looking forward to seeing it. I asked a friend if she wanted to go see it with me next week and she asked 'what's The Help?' I felt like saying 'it's what I need living up here!' I think I'll enjoy this one alone. I remember getting sweater clips for birthday gifts from aunts. I wish I'd saved them.

Warmly, Kathleen

I recently discovered a Hobby Lobby not too far from DC and was thrilled! I was there last weekend and found all sorts of goodies!

My grandmother used to have sweater guards! I wonder if she still has any left...I'll have to ask her!

I read the book last summer and saw the movie opening day...it was great! I want to start rocking those sweater clips. I am going to go and google it right away. I remember my grandmother having a few, turning her cardigans into capes. Adorable.
