PUMPKIN PANCAKES...I'M HAVING A JUNE CLEAVER DAY!!!

I was very saddened to hear that Barbara Billingsley passed away last Saturday. Leave it to Beaver was one of my very favorite television shows when I was a little girl. I grew up glued to the TV watching June Cleaver...wearing her perfectly starched dresses, an apron, and her tasteful pearls, all the while creating a nurturing atmosphere for Ward, Wally, and the Beaver! Her home was immaculate and she was always there to prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner for her husband and children. She was truly America's Mom!
Well, I definitely have a lot of June Cleaver in me...today I got up (okay, I slept in a bit later than Mrs. Cleaver would have) and got dressed...making sure I wore my tasteful pearls and a seasonal hostess apron. This cute little apron is by April Cornell...
First, I brewed some delicious pumpkin flavored coffee from The Fresh Market...
Then I prepared pumpkin pancakes (a mix) from the The Fresh Market and topped them with maple syrup, also from The Fresh Market...
This is the pumpkin mold I used to get a pumpkin shape! Oh, I think June Cleaver would have loved this touch!!!

I coated the The Paula Deen pan and the pumpkin mold with Pam spray...
I think they turned out well...pumpkin-y and cute!!!

Are you a modern-day June Cleaver? Do you wear a hostess apron and pearls while preparing meals for your family? I'd love to hear from you!

I can't say I wear pearls .. but I love wearing an apron ..there is just something about it that reminds of of simplicity ... perhaps the fact that it means a meal is being homecooked and eaten around the table with family .. then at a restaurant..

Hearting your apron... we have some holiday pancake molds too.. aren't they just the best... Yumm.. xo HHL

I am wearing my pearl today in honor of Mother Cleaver!

Oh, and Pumpkin Pancakes are delish and yours are just delightful and Mrs. Cleaver would be please, I am sure. Aprons have become a new obsession with me especially all the adorable ones you can find these days.

Absolutely! It's always been very important that my family remember our home by it's sweet smells, warm, homey atmosphere and the sight of a smiling mother turned out nicely. And I always wear a pretty apron.

(secret: I try to look nice even when I am scrubbing the bath tub and walking the dogs. I never want my family to remember me looking or being ugly.)

I don't wear the pearls and apron often enough. You looked too cute in yours! I love it!
Looks like you are in full fall swing. We are here too. It's my absolute favorite time of year as far as smells and seasonings go! I love pumpkin anything!

I don't wearpearls and not always an apron but I truly adore June Cleaver and all that she stood for...did she even know that she would be helping to preserve the spirit of the housewife...to make our families happy at home? Thanks for posting - your pumpkin pancakes look delish!

I was also so sad to hear about her passing.

I love the pumpkin mold!

I always wear my apron when cooking...I have several favorites, and just ordered a new one, actually! It should arrive later this week, I think.

I have pearls, but don't wear them as often as I should. Maybe I will wear them tomorrow.

I am so saddened by the death of Barbara Billingsly. If she wasn't an example during these times, she certainly was an inspiration.

You look adorable in your pearls and apron!

I'm sure June Cleaver would be pleased at all those that she inspired. I absolutely love your apron. I just recently bought an apron pattern and fabric--hopefully I'll find time to get them made. Love your blog!!

No no Nannette, I'm not a June Clever. I guess I am in my heart but not on the outside! :) Heck, I don't wear shoes except when I have to! :)
Be a sweetie,

I was also saddened by Barbara Billingsly's death. I heard today that Tom Bosley passed away this morning. June Cleaver and Howard Cunningham within just a few days of each other. You look so cute in your pearls and apron. Those pumpkin pancakes are so cute and yummy looking.

I love this post! She has always been my idol through the years. I must admit that I don't always dress up while I'm at home, especially now that my child is grown and it's just me but I always try to do the special things that my family love.

I wear pearls and an apron almost every day. I feel incomplete without my string of pearls, and new parents at school say they are told to look for the lady with pearls on, when trying to track me down at an event. I love that wearing something so classic sets me apart.

Pearls and Chanel No. 5 are my signature, so they are worn with my apron daily!
I agree that it's important to take care in all things.
I love what Kathie said here, that she always wants her family to have happy home memories (paraphrased) as do I.
It's a living legacy! And certainly not tacky!!

I really enjoyed Leave It To Beaver reruns as a child and I definitely have a little "June Cleaver" in me!

Love your pumpkin pancake presentation, looks delicious!

Dear Kathie Truitt,
I LOVE that you want your family to remember the sweet smells and warm, homey atmosphere you create in your home and also remember their smiling mother turned out nicely! This is something I certainly wish for!!!

Dear Angie H,
Lord have mercy, I'm not the best Barista around the house! In fact, I made coffee at my cousin's house this weekend and there were loose grounds in the brew...eeewww!!! At home, I usually add about 3 tblsp. of ground coffee to 8 cups of water...but again, I never get it right--either too strong or too weak:)
